The Bird Nest Gift Shop is owned by Nan Pendarvis, who also takes pride in showcasing the work of artist and master woodworker, Gary Friesen. Below are both their Artist Bios.

NAN PENDARVIS:

I am an artist, educator, wife, mother, and friend. Creating art from nature has been a true passion and joy of mine for the past 40 years. I love to work in all mediums and have explored numerous processes but sculpting is one of my favorites.

I hold a Bachelor of Art in Art Education and a Master of Fine Art in Printmaking and Painting. For over 18 years I enjoyed teaching art as a college art professor and then retired in 2014. This is when I established The Bird Nest Gift Shop and Blue Moon Bonsai trees on Etsy.

Blue Moon Bonsai Trees showcases the beauty and glory of the "tree". Each bonsai tree sculpture will celebrate life and nature through different times and places.

GARY FRIESEN:

I have known Gary form more than 30 years. He has been working with wood for most of his life in one way or another. A native of Oklahoma, he has owned his own woodworking business for more than forty years, making everything from decorative wooden lapboard desks, picture frames, signs, letters, toys and fine furniture. In essence, woodworking is in his blood.

For Gary, making exotic wooden pens is a beautiful marriage between art and function. Through the use of hard and soft lines, unique patterns and interesting textures, he creates art that is functional and invites you to touch, admire and most of all enjoy.
