Amazing quality and wonderful scent. The jasmine is so fresh, and the addition of citrus compliments it well. Probably the best seller I have encountered on Etsy thus far. I look forward to purchasing more products from this store.

I love this beeswax candle; a very nice scent and the seller was great and very helpful. It arrived quickly and I'm quite happy; thanks so much!

About

My Handmade Story

My grandmother was creative in her own way, working as a sewing machine operator for a factory in Philadelphia, PA for many years. She did her own sewing and altering until her death at the age of 95. She is most remembered for great, traditional Puerto Rican food and for being a tough little lady. Her youngest daughter, my Mom, was an extremely creative, hard-working and self-taught woman. From her I learned to be a hard worker and the importance of paying attention to details. My mother passed away too young, leaving much of her creative potential untapped. My sister is an incredible creative artist, though she would be the last to acknowledge such.

In the early 90s, a dear friend taught me how to read a pattern and operate a sewing machine. She was with me when I purchase my first pair of Singer Classic Series Shears, which I still use today. I have always enjoyed keeping my hands, and thus my mind, busy learning about creating, or actually creating. When the opportunity arose for me to help support my family, with items I make, I gladly accepted.

Fabric, yarn, wire, beads, hammer& torch fascinate me with the endless possibilities they represent. One's senses can be stimulated by the feel and texture of handmade objects, while imagining the myriads of thoughts and creative processes in the minds of the makers.

Making something with my two hands or contemplating the handmade of another reminds me to be in awe of our own Intelligent Designer. In addition, my shop name, The Black Elephant, is a way to "tip my hat" to an amazing family, my wonderful brothers & their wives, my lovely sister mentioned above, and an unnumbered extended family of friends.

Enjoy your time browsing and Thank You for visiting The Black Elephant©.

Kindest regards,

Judy
