The Beauty of Jewelry Made Simple

I jumped in feet first with our first shop and over time have found that my favorite thing is creating simple but pretty earrings. I love to make life simple for my customers and give them that shot of joy, beauty and fun in an uncomplicated package. My way of doing that is with earrings people can love and wear any time, any place and for nearly any occasion.

While Oregon Sunstones are still a passion they will not make up the bulk of our jewelry. We want to bring the styles and stones that you love and crave rather than limiting what we have to offer.

What is your return policy?

Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer and the item must be returned/received in original condition. All returns must be received within 30 days of original delivery as determined by USPS delivery confirmation.

Upon receipt of the item in original condition, we will be happy to refund your original purchase price, less any shipping costs (if you upgraded to Priority).

Returns due to buyer's remorse (no defect/no fault of the Black Petal) will be subject to a $3.00 restocking fee which will be deducted from the refund amount.

We regret we can't exchange one-of-a-kind jewelry, instead a refund of the original purchase price (less shipping upgrades) will be available upon our receipt of the item in original condition.

My item arrived damaged - what do I do?

First things first, take a breath and don't panic. We understand how frustrating it can be when the mail service isn't kind to your purchases.

If your item is damaged in transit, please contact me immediately so that I can do my best to resolve the problem for you!

Claims of damage will require a picture of the item and its damage, as well as the damaged packaging it came in, in order to move forward. This helps me determine where in the process something may have failed which is very useful when working with the various mail services.

What is the deadline for Christmas orders?

HOLIDAY SHIPPING: To ensure delivery by Christmas 2019, purchases must be completed & funded by December 11th, 2019. We will continue to work within our shipping guidelines of 1-3 days.

You can indicate you'd rather we do not hold the purchase by sending a note in the 'note to seller' field stating to ship ASAP. We will do our best to have the package in the mail the next business day per your request though this will depend on current volumes.

What type of packaging/shipping do you use?

Jewelry will generally be shipped in a simple kraft box (with cotton padding) decorated with branded stickers and ribbon accents, however that can change depending on what is purchased. All items are carefully protected with bubble wrap to reduce damage and are shipped in a waterproof mailer envelope or Priority mailing box.

We ship most of our jewelry via USPS First Class mail when going to a domestic (within the US) address. However upgrades for USPS Priority mail are available.

Do you offer free shipping?

We are happy to offer a resounding "yes!" to this question.

All of our beautiful items enjoy free Standard shipping via USPS First Class when going to a domestic (within the US) address. Upgrades to domestic Priority are available but do have an additional charge.

Items with an original list price of $85.00 or more and orders totaling $85.00 or more (prior to any discounts) going to a domestic U.S. address will have both delivery and signature confirmation added at no additional charge to help ensure proper/complete delivery. This applies for both First Class & Priority shipments.

Do you ship internationally?

Short answer: Yes!

Long answer: International shipping prices are for USPS First Class International Mail and do not include delivery confirmation/tracking or insurance. We regret that we cannot offer free International shipping at this time due to the prohibitive costs of shipping and our desire to keep the pricing of our goods reasonable.

Buyers are responsible for all customs, duties, taxes, levies, VAT or fees. Once the package has left my hands I have little control over it. This is especially true when shipping internationally.

Per U.S. and international government regulations, I cannot mark purchases as gifts and must declare the actual value.

What about customs or VAT?

The Black Petal is not responsible for items that are held up in Customs.

Please be aware that Etsy has added wording under item price in some sellers' listings that states "VAT included (where applicable)". VAT/TAXES are NOT included in the price of my items.

I am located in the US and I have no way to collect or pay these taxes. These charges vary according to the destination country, and are the responsibility of the importer (purchaser) if the import country's government chooses to collect them upon delivery.

I sincerely apologize if the wording causes any confusion. Please understand that I have no control over it, nor any way to remove it.

What if my shipping address is wrong?

If you contact us prior to shipping this is no problem, we can update the address.

We cannot refund items when an incorrect addresses is given during checkout and is confirmed as delivered.

If your item comes back to us (it can take up to 60 days for an incorrect address return) you will need to pay an additional fee of $5.00 to have it reshipped as our free shipping only applies to the first attempt.

If an incomplete address is caught at time of purchase we will reach out via Etsy convo to get a correct address and will provide a deadline (about 2 days) for response. If no response is received by the date noted in the email we send, we will cancel & refund the purchase and you'll need to reorder. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Is there anything else I should know before ordering?

It is our goal for our item listings to provide the most accurate and detailed descriptions & pictures possible. If you have *any* questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us.

Please also note that the color of your finished product may vary slightly from the listing photo shown due to varying computer monitor settings.

Jewelry created with natural products will always have a uniqueness to them due to the variety and wonder of Mother Nature so please be prepared for slight differences when stone & crystals are involved.

This can be especially true for Oregon sunstone jewelry as I've found the gemstone can have a different look/hue depending on the type of light (fluorescent/incandescent/natural sunlight) it is under.

Do you do customization?

Regretfully we do not offer custom options such as resizing at this time as our goal is to provide these beautiful jewelry pieces to you as quickly as possible.

If you are interested in loose Oregon gemstones for your own projects drop us a note and we might be able to come up with something. We work primarily in round and oval shapes and don't stick to calibrated sizes.

Please note: If you purchase an item and have it sized/resized elsewhere we will not be able to take it back as a return with a refund. At that point the jewelry item is no longer in its original condition.
