Love it. Super cute and fits perfect
Hi, I'm Valerie! I've always been one that has the NEED to create. I attended college to study fashion design. My senior fashion show featured clothing I created made from silk shantung, adorned with hand stitched silk embroidery. Loved it. Loved the work that went into it, loved the artistic touch I was able to express. Just after graduating I moved from California (perfect spot for fashion, just outside of Los Angeles) to Connecticut (country and hours from NY). I did choose to move here, and with that, chose to possibly not pursue a career in fashion.
Years following the move, and several non-creative jobs later... I went back to school to study graphic design, which is what I do now for my full time living.
Creating accessories came several years ago. My then 3 year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. During her long stays in the hospital to undergo chemo, I started making her headbands and such to wear, knowing she would have no hair soon. I was able to do this right by her side in her room, it was nice. I then started making ones for me as well, and then make others to sell. After her treatments were over and we were back to home life, I planned to fill my shop with the hair goodies I created. Any spare time I can come up with, I enjoy sitting and creating these accessories. (And my business name has everything to do with her!)
I do love the personal touch I'm able to put into every piece. My space is loaded with fabrics, buttons, notions, flowers (mostly vintage) and other such things, just waiting to be put to use.
Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator
I moved to Connecticut in the US, from California, 13 years ago. I love antiquing, auctions, coffee, friends and family, and most of all my daughter and husband. Oh and legwarmers are my best friend in the winter, never leave home without 'em.
