5 out of 5 starsI always saw this booth and Yankee Peddler but never made a purchase. I decided not to attend this year because of COVID and was so happy to see their Etsy shop! Jane helped me pick out a cross style and my item shipped almost immediately. It looks perfect in my entryway.

Unique artistry of the Celtic gravestone designs...
In 1996 David and Jane Good journeyed to the British Isles. They had no indication how much that visit would reshape their lives. They fell in love with the art of the gravestones and ancient monuments. After returning they began to develop a plan on how to share the beauty of Celtic knot work and ancient designs others. They expanded their adventures in 1998 and visited a second time to learn more of the variety of designs they discovered and to place these designs with historical content. Their passion of these majestic locations has brought them to return six times and create The Celtic Cross business. This business is truly one of a kind art. Jane and David have yet to find anyone creating what they do.
Jane translates gravestone designs in her hand line drawings which she then digitizes into embroidery. Working with both standard (Roman proportion), cross shape, and the equal armed (Greek proportion) she makes framed works of art, clerical stoles and church vestments.
David has fallen in love with the gravestones and ancient monuments which he translates into hand carved rubbings. Carving his oven rubbing plates from the original designs, he preserves the art of the ancient Picts. He uses imported rubbing waxes and a mixture of imported papers and fabrics to create his unique art.
We hope you enjoy the crosses as much as we do. The intricate lines and Pictish characters are a feast for the eyes.

Our work comes from gravestones/grave sites found in Ireland, Scotland and Wales. They have been digitized from photographs to create unique pieces of art. Many of these designs can be only found in her art and in graveyards of the British Isles.
