Chemistry connects people
Although formally educated as a scientist, Rovena Tey has always been creative. Since she was a little girl, she’s always been making things with her hands and learning art by doing.
Her science art focuses on the fascinating world of molecules and the fundamental fact that everything in the world is made up of chemicals -- our emotions, what we eat, what we smell, what we see, and even the things we touch. What started with chemistry has now grown to include math because the language of numbers is another way of explaining how the worlds works. Driven by curiosity about the everyday, the process starts with a bit of scientific wonder and cozying up in a nest of research papers before picking up the pen and paper to translate it into art. Her designs use vibrant colours and humour (puns), presenting a unique way of sharing her love of science + math with the world.
