5 out of 5 starsI absolutely love this orb!! This has to be one of my absolute favorite colors, and please excuse the use of the same colored top with the item as it matches and pairs with this orb and earrings I have purchased from Allison and wear them both together as a set even to wear while sitting around the house to feel pretty lol. This orb can be worn two ways~it has two sides and is absolutely stunningly gorgeous! Thank you so much again for another beautiful piece and sorry for the late review. As always she never is one to disappoint with her work as it is well crafted and one of a kind.

Source of treasures
Open The Creaking Door to a cabinet of curiosity, where you may venture to discover a myriad of botanics, neo-victoriana and a little treat of whimsy.
I called my shop "The Creaking Door" because although Jane Austen didn't have a study in which to write her novels, she did have a creaking door which allowed her privacy when writing "Persuasion", "Emma" and "Mansfield Park". She never had the swing door fixed, because when she heard it, it allowed enough time to file away her papers or hide her notes under blotting paper. I love the idea that a creaking door was of help to Jane Austen rather than an annoyance and that it helped protect the secrets of her work.
My road to making hand-made jewelry and decor was born out of a secret obsession with second hand objects, antiquities, tiny microcosms and the natural world.
All of the treasures I use in my creations have been collected with the utmost thought and consideration. Where possible I prefer to upcycle materials diverted from landfill or use organic inclusions from renewable sources. Many of the flowers, fungi and leaves I use are sustainably grown in my own cottage garden and where collected in the wild, are carefully foraged, with permission, so as not to diminish the natural environment. No living creatures are ever harmed as a result of my designs and any insects, shells and starfish have been carefully hand-picked by myself after they have naturally expired.
There is no better chemist than Mother Nature, and I only use eco-friendly resin that is derived from plants and trees with a low carbon footprint and reduced power and water consumption. I also aim to lessen the environmental impact of my work by only using plastic-free recycled packaging which is where possible, also biodegradable.

Frequently asked questions
How do I look after bright silver items?
Bright (not purposely aged) silver can eventually tarnish because of oxidisation and due to the presence of hydrogen sulfide in the air. Unlike rust, tarnish is a ‘self-limiting’ patina, affecting only the top few layers and ultimately protecting the metal.
To protect your item from tarnish, you may want to keep your items in a plastic zip lock bag when not in use. It is also a good idea to keep items dry, so you could also include one of those silica gel pouches you sometimes get in shoe boxes as well.
As much of my work contains jewelry grade glue, I would not recommend immersing your items in water, but rather polish with a soft cloth. Solid silver items will come up nicely with a small quantity of metal polish.
How do I look after terrarium or glass bottle jewelry?
Terrarium and glass bottle jewelry is often made using jewelry grade glue which whilst super-strong doesn't like persistently getting wet. Please remember to take off your jewelry when swimming, showering and if it does get wet, please wipe clean with a dry cloth.
Is your jewelry vegan friendly?
I am trying hard to make my jewelry vegan friendly where possible. Not all glues are vegan friendly, particularly jewelry grade glues which have either been historically tested on animals or contain animal products.
I am now experimenting with an approved vegan friendly glue to see if that will work with my creations.
I also use shells and feathers that I have collected myself rather than ones that are commercially supplied, so everything is as natural as can be. Where possible, I would like no animal to have been harmed in the making of my jewelry. If you have any questions about a specific item or would like to commission a vegan friendly piece, please contact me.
Gift wrapping and packaging
I believe that receiving something in the post should be delightful and part of a positive purchasing experience. Each item is supplied in a foil or hand stamped decorated gift box and mailed in a craft pillow box outer. Please check my reviews for the compliments I have received on my packaging.
Please can you include a message in with the order?
Each order is shipped with a note card in a hand-made stamped kraft envelope. If you'd like your card to have a personal message in it, please drop me a convo or let me know in a message with your order. I'd happily write the card with your message at no extra cost!
Which shipping service do you use?
I use the Royal Mail and ship internationally. If you require tracking, please upgrade your shipping to a track & sign for service at checkout. As I use a "Drop and Go" service at my Post Office, so if the item is tracked, I don't always receive the information right away. Please note, I don't automatically forward tracking information on to buyers after the item has shipped as often it will have been received the next day if you're in the UK. If you do require tracking information for your order, please feel free to convo me and I'll endeavour to send it to you as soon as possible. Thank you.
