I've been creative all my life...from scribbling with crayons to drawing intricate ink pictures featuring tiny ants at a huge picnic when I was a pre-teen to art classes and sign making in high school....well, you get the picture. I took a few art classes in college while I studied psychology, then got a master's degree in Counseling Psychology. As a children and family therapist I found play and art therapy to be an integral part of my work. The meaning behind what those children drew revealed themselves to me and helped me to help them grow and make changes.

Then health problems I'd been dealing with for years got worse and chronic pain stopped me from working. It was so nice to be home for my children, but I felt a little lost as someone not really contributing anything to the community. I had kept art journals for many years, and in looking at examples of these online I stumbled upon ATC/ACEOs...little works of art about as big as a playing card. My interest was piqued. This led me through a variety of mixed media art creations and eventually creating one of a kind pieces of jewelry using a combination of antique, vintage and modern supplies. I've had such a grand time over the last eight or nine years! I've even ventured a bit back into newer mixed media adventures. I've grown quite a bit over the years as an artist...my creative journey has been wonderful!

And now it's time to journey in a new direction, to take a new path. We are moving from Missouri back to our beloved Washington State, for a number of really good reasons, including that our daughter and her husband live there and are expecting our first grandchild, a little girl! We've been planning this move for at least a couple of years now, and as time has gone on and I think more about the beautiful nature of Washington, the people there, etc I have felt my creative soul taking me in a new direction. I'm led to create jewelry and art with themes of nature, Pacific NW Indian arts, rustic and even bohemian flair. I am so very excited to head in this direction!! So, after we get settled in our own place in WA I will be unpacking my studio supplies, finding a place for everything and beginning to create again!

The shop name will remain the same, for creativity is a gift God has given to my soul and I feel ever so close to Him when I create. I will continue to offer the pieces of antique/vintage/modern that haven't yet sold, at a greatly reduced price when I reopen the shop. I hope this will be September, but who knows what each day will bring.
