2 out of 5 starsI left my review on the other item I purchased at the same time, basically not worth the price. The outer casing is plastic, the compass part is just glued on the top, and you can see the glue around the edges. Better than most of the cheap badge reels out there, but not worth the price.

2 out of 5 starsNot for what we were expecting for the price. I don't see a place to put pictures here, but we bought this along with the compass rose one from the same seller. They are much better quality than your typical badge reel. The cable is steel which is nice, but the whole outer casing is plastic. We were really expecting some kind of metal casing based on the price. You can also see a lot of glue on both but especially on the world tree one. Might be difficult to make it hard to see, but in the picture I don't see much if any. The one we got looks tacky. I would have paid maybe $20 for both of them if I'd seen them on a shelf at a store IF the glue wasn't showing. It also took 18 days to arrive from the day I ordered. Like I said, probably better than most of the cheap ones out there, but definitely not what we expected.

5 out of 5 starsSo tiny! Perfect markers for my lace and sock knitting. Fast shipping, I’d happily purchase again!

5 out of 5 starsThe abacus bracelet stretched to fit, even though I’ve regrettably large wrist bones: the instructions with it are clearly written, I just need to play with it more before it makes sense to me. ;) Thank you, wonderfully fast turn around!

4 out of 5 starsI am very satisfied with this item as of yet. I use it for my work badge every day. However, there was no mention or picture of the birds that would be on the backside of the reel housing. To me it’s not a big deal, a minor annoyance but I do wish that I had been aware of it and perhaps had the option of changing it to something more fitting for a professional adult male. However, as I previously stated, I am very satisfied with the product.

5 out of 5 starsAlready put it to use and I love it. It's sturdy and reliable as advertised and the finish looks aged as if it's old and worn which i love! If i had to criticize something is that it's a little heavy but that's nitpicking. Great product!

5 out of 5 starsI Love my badge reel. I go through badge reels every 3 months. I wanted one that was going to last. I think this one hits the mark!
About TheCrookedElm
Elegant elm tree, with just a little bend.
---About the Elm Tree---
Once, not so very long ago, the streets of many American cities and towns were lined with identically beautiful, tall, straight-trunked elm trees, all reaching for the sun. Fast growing, elegantly shaped, hardy, resilient, and tolerant of poor conditions, the elm was the perfect choice for city life.
Then in the 1950's a single fungus named Dutch Elm Disease swept the land, wiping out very nearly every elm tree in the country. Hundreds of thousands died. That's what happens to any monoculture, eventually.
--About the Artist--
I'm a country girl in the big city, a vibrant soul living in cubeworld. Crafting keeps me sane in a world where elegance and beauty usually bow to the upfront dollar.
I knew I couldn’t be the only elm tree on the street growing with a slight bend, but I couldn't seem to find anyone who wanted to cater to my need for accessories that weren't plain, but weren't gaudy. I couldn't find Elegant Quirk, so I made some for myself, and thus was born The Crooked Elm.
---About the Style: Elegant Quirk---
The business world is all about being streamlined and efficient, but all too often that translates to sterile and anonymous, rows and rows of identical cubes filled with people in near-identical suits. The Crooked Elm was born of a desire to express my individuality while surviving and thriving in cubeworld. The uniform we wear is fairly standardized, so the key for me was the right accessories – elegant, understated, durable, whimsical, and unique.
I want to feel good about the things I surround myself with, and I know you do, too. To this end, my work is designed around the feeling of joy. My accessories should be a joy to wear, to look at, and merely to own. My patterns should be a joy to make – with minimal finishing and simple construction, you are left to revel in the interplay of color and texture, the soothingly hypnotic rhythm of your hands creating a thing of beauty and utility.
Every tangible item in my shop is brought together with my own hands, so individual variations between items are to be expected. For most designs, my materials were acquired in small quantities or repurposed from other items. Some materials I source in larger quantities, but the nature of handmade crafts in general, and my style of working in specific, means that even if I make another something like it, each item will be unique.
---Allergy Information---
I know a lot of people have allergies of various types, so I list every component of my work.
I have sensitive skin and metal allergies. I get a rash at the drop of a hat. Every product I sell was made by my own hands and tested by me, so most people with generic metal allergies shouldn't have a problem. However, I am not everyone, so if you have allergies please check the materials list at the bottom of the listing before buying. Many of my knit and crochet prototypes will have natural materials like wool in the blend.
Every one of my items is produced, handled, stored, and packed in a smoke-free environment. I live with a dog. If you have pet allergies, please let me know so I can properly handle your item.

Wholesale availability
Please contact me for a custom listing if you'd like an order of more than 10 units! I offer discounts for large orders.
Returns/exchanges
If there's anything wrong with your item and you need to return or exchange it, it's extremely important you contact me via Etsy Convo first!
For some issues, I may send you a prepaid return label when you contact me. For all issues, if you don't contact me first the package may get lost because I share my space with folks who don't always remember to tell me that a package came for me or where they stashed it. If I know it's coming I can keep an eye out and know to ask around.
Please note, depending on the issue I may or may not be able to honor returns or exchanges on items that were made specially for you. Please contact me right away via Etsy Convo to discuss.
My item broke, what should I do?
The durability of my items is very important to me. If your steel cable badge reel or abacus bracelet has developed a problem, please contact me via Etsy Convo right away and send me a picture of what's wrong. Depending on the item and the issue, I may be able to repair it for you. If it's within 30 days of delivery and I can repair it, I'll send you a prepaid label to send it back to me for repair no matter where you are in the world.
Will your abacus counting bracelet fit me?
Probably! My counting bracelets are made from coils of memory wire that expand and contract around your wrist. If the width of your wrist measured flat at the widest point is between 2" and 3", the bracelet should fit fine with no alterations.
If your wrist is particularly large or small, contact me about making you a custom version. I can probably accommodate you! Contact me via Etsy Convo to discuss.
Custom and personalized orders
My turn around time for custom orders varies a lot, but for many items it's often about 3 weeks from when you pay for your custom listing.
Please contact me via Etsy Convo to find out how long it will take for the item you want. During some times of the year you can pay a little extra to get certain items made up faster if I already have the materials on hand.
