About The Dahlia Scene

Welcome to The Dahlia Scene! My name is Yvonne Rhinehart, and I’m a Los Angeles based hooker (that’s a person who crochets to the layman!).

The Dahlia Scene is a store that focuses on the things that make you feel at home. I like to call these “the best things in life.” For me, these include: crochet, food, music, DIY projects, home décor, travel, cooking, and general musings about life.

What brought me to become a hooker and blogger? Well it all started when I was a little girl. I’d watch my great grandmother as she crocheted numerous afghans. She would sell some, give some, and even keep some. I watched but she was unable to teach me at the time. I thought for sure I’d never learn. Last year, I was determined to change that and learn to crochet. I taught myself by watching numerous YouTube videos and joining in on crochet-alongs until I got it. Now, I’m launching this blog to document my journeys and maybe even inspire some of you.

Things you might want to know about me: I love food, traveling, spring, fall, amaretto sours, bright colors paired with dark ones, the color pink, music of all kinds, Elizabeth Taylor, and all things thrifted. I have an amazing group of friends who are always there to support me and sometimes even make fun of me a little bit. I have a degree in Political Science from a small university in Kentucky that no one believes exists. My love is the reason this blog looks so fabulous. I have to admit that without his hard work that I would still be floundering and trying to figure out how to make it look pretty. He gives 110% to everything in order to make sure that this can be a success for me. I love him for that and so much more.

I often miss things about small town life. I grew up in a small town in Tennessee where my grandfather owned the only real restaurant within a 15 mile radius. He always fried me a perfect egg on Sunday mornings; It's often the little things that remind me of him the most. I still find that the vivid sense of imagination brought on by living so far from everything is invaluable. I even grew up talking to cows on the farm as if they could carry on real conversations!

I’m so thankful that I’m able to launch this blog and share it with you. I love you for reading and beginning this journey with me. I read everything that comes through my shop, will come through this blog, and every mention on a social media site. Please feel free to follow me everywhere as I would love to hear from you! Let’s begin this exploration together.
