My story... Searching for treasures and finding them a home...
I first heard about Etsy through a job interview I had years ago at an advertising/branding agency. They blogged about Etsy and I discovered it while researching their company. I was doing my MBA with a focus on marketing, desperately searching out any kind of corporate job that would allow some kind of creativity.
At the time, I didn't know it, but it would be a huge moment for me.
I guess you could say that I am highly imaginative and inquisitive. I love history and art, I spent my undergrad years working in a little victorian gift boutique and every day was a beautiful day. I love being surrounded by beautiful things that stimulate my senses and capture my imagination. That was a heavenly time for me. I hope one day to live that dream again, but in my own shop where I can create endless collections and displays that will capture mine and my customers imaginations as well.
I have known since the age of 19 exactly what I want to do with my life. Have I been able to accomplish that yet? NO. And I think about it every waking moment of every day.
That is also life right? We all have responsibilities, bills, necessities to pay for. We all have to make a living and suck it up, dreams don't just happen without hard work. You have to fight for your dreams but still be realistic, that's part of being a grownup and I accept this.
But I know one thing, I can NEVER give up on my dream. I have battled for years to find the courage, fortitude, support and means to pursue what I know I am meant to do. Etsy has given me the low risk, inexpensive, yet highly effective platform I needed to do that.
How I came to sell antique jewelry on Etsy... I have been a collector for years, but the funny thing is that my collection rarely grows because I love selling so so much. I'll look through my jewelry box, see something amazing that I haven't worn in two years and before you know it, it is on Ebay. I have that stubborn entrepreneurial streak that won't go away.
I've learned over the years that my #1 creative assets are my eyes and my imagination. I have a very strong and particular taste and aesthetic. I'm not a great crafter though. I have crafted for years, and while creating some lovely things and enjoying the process, I do not have the patience or the focus to devote all my time and energy to one type of craft. That's why being a 'collector' or 'curator' of antique treasures is perfect for me. I get bored too easily doing anything else, I need that variety to stoke my creative fire. I am completely self-taught and I also have highly experienced antiques professionals I refer to for any help and verification. I spent some time selling high-end diamond and fine jewelry at a well-known luxury retailer in Canada and learned a lot from that experience as well. What catches my eye as I am choosing my collection is uniqueness. I like many eras of jewelry styles, I especially love Art Deco, Victorian and Edwardian era jewelry. I also am attracted to the big cocktail rings of the 50's and 60's. I gravitate towards larger stone rings, mainly emerald cuts, art deco style gems and bright colored gems. I like to carry primarily fine gold jewelry. From time to time I will offer something in sterling silver but I prefer to offer yellow, rose and white gold. I prefer to offer natural gemstones but antique pieces often feature paste or glass stones. If I am uncertain of the type of stone or whether it's man-made or not, I will state so in the listing.
After taking 2014 off for the birth of my son, I am back and promise that The Enchanted Maiden will be better than ever! I am already sourcing out fabulous new inventory and can't wait to show it off! I will be introducing a new `Bargain Basement` section offering fun, budget-friendly costume jewelry pieces as well!
I usually ship within 3-5 business days, if you require a rush please send me a message and I will do the best I can! Extra rush shipping charges will be charged if necessary. I am shipping from Canada, all items within Canada will go by Expresspost. All items to the USA and International will go through Canada Post International Tracked Packet. Next day FedEx is possible for rush items to the USA but it is very pricey, $75-80 minimum, ask me for a current quote. All fine jewelry items will ship with tracking, costume jewelry will ship regular post.
Resident Store Kitty
I am the resident store cat, Mr. Cooper. I am a bi-color blue ragdoll, with soft bunny fur and bright blue eyes! I love tuna and my favorite pastimes are batting my toys around and sleeping on my faux sheepskin rug. My job is to oversee all operations at The Enchanted Maiden and to ensure all coffee and cuddle breaks are taken.
