About

Local Trinbagonian Artisanal Craft

Every country has its individual culture and that culture is expressed in many ways, including how it's people create. In Trinidad & Tobago our crafters are disappearing, due to increased prices of raw materials, a market lost to commercialism and no solid storefront or marketplace. In order to preserve our expression, The Fire is Lit was created in 2005, first starting as a bookstore and evolving into a 'culture shop'.

I am honoured to be part of our local artisans story, the medium between the 'making' process and when it reaches your home.
Thank you for supporting T&T's local craftsmen and women by purchasing their 100% handmade pieces. Blessings...

We Believe in:
Fostering our Artists
Sparking Imagination
Using Knowledge as a Torch with which to Lead
Igniting Creativity

Providing the literary and literal works by our creative minds in the Caribbean
Diaspora.

On one side, shelves of novels, biographies, fiction and non-fiction, any works from the Caribbean or African Diaspora we are willing to carry.

The other, a Rasta vibration...tr...aidtional Ethiopian clothing, scarves, jewelry, Bob Marley & H.I.M t-shirts, 'tools' and food for the body-granola, dried fruits, natural juices.
Ras Star leather works will also be featured, come choose from what we have or pick your colours, your leather & have a custom-made piece. Want a crochet piece, we have that too!

So come in. Within the heart of Babylon we've constructed an oasis for the conscious, a 'livity' for those wanting something different.

Tell a friend, ignite a Fire!
