About

You make cute stuff. I make cute bags to keep it in.

You’re a creative person. You make cute stuff. Handmade wonders that take hours upon hours to complete. That are often gifted to others. And when you give those handmade gifts to your loved ones you take special care to wrap them in pretty packaging.

Well…I believe your handmade items should be wrapped in pretty packaging from start to finish. And that’s what The Handmaker’s Bag is all about. I make pretty bags for you to fill with wondrous creative projects. Bags to keep your works in progress in until they are completed and ready to go to their new homes. And then the bag is ready to be filled with a new creative venture.

As a handmaker myself I’ve tried a lot of project bags. Always looking for that perfect one that has all the features I need. Through trial and error I think I’ve come up with the perfect bags for every handmaker. Whatever type of handwork you like to do, whether it be knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, needlework, embroidery or countless others, I think you will find a bag to fit your needs in my shop.

All bags are made from my own patterns and designs and sewn in my Washington home studio. Great care is taken that each bag is constructed to perfection but still holds the uniqueness of being handmade.

Frequently asked questions

What's included with your Sock Sack Sets?

Each Sock Sak Set includes a project bag, needle cozy and progress keeper. Any yarn pictured is for photo staging purposes only and is not included with the set.

Care instructions

All my bags are made to go in the washer but I suggest spot cleaning or hand washing. You will preserve the integrity and crispness of the fabric better. If you do want to wash your Handmaker's Bag in the washer I suggest using a gentle cycle. Lay flat to dry and press with a warm iron.

Custom and personalized orders

I don't except custom or personalized orders at this time. But check back as I'm always looking for ways to better serve my customers needs.

Sizing details

All sizing information is included within each listing but here are the general sizes of some of my bags.

Sock Sacks - 7" wide x 10" tall x 7" deep
Zip-Up Bags - 15" wide x 11.5" tall x 5" deep
Needle Cozies - 7" wide x 2" tall

I see a lot of DPN Cozies for sale. What makes yours different?

DPN Cozies are a hot item right now and there are a lot of makers selling them. What makes my DPN Cozies different is you can also use them with circular needles and they won't crimp your cord. Knitting needles can be expensive and the last thing you want is to pull out your project and find your cord has been bent and now has a permanent crimp. My cozies allow the cord to remain at it's natural angle while covering the pointed end of the needles and not only protecting your stitches but also your project bag.

Customers with Allergies

My bags are made in a smoke free environment but I do have pets. Although they are not allowed near my merchandise I cannot guarantee that a stray pet hair won't find it's way onto a bag. If you have pet allergies please be aware of this and take this into consideration when making your purchase.

Excess Shipping Costs

I make every effort to accurately price my shipping costs and use Etsy's calculated shipping feature. However, sometimes there are circumstances when the shipping cost you are charged is more than the actual shipping cost when the label is printed. If you are charged $1.00 or more for shipping than the actual shipping cost I will refund the difference to you.

Shipping Address

I ship to the address on your Etsy order. I do not cross reference your Etsy address with your PayPal address. Please make sure your shipping address in your Etsy profile is correct. I am not responsible for orders shipped to incorrect addresses due to an incorrect shipping address in your profile.

What's different about your bags from other project bags?

There are a lot of great project bag makers out there. And the steps in making a project bag are pretty basic. What makes my bags different is I not only add a layer of sturdy interfacing (not just your standard interfacing) but I also add batting to my bags. this helps my bags to stay sturdy and stand up on their own but also be soft and squishy and provide an extra layer of protection for your pointy knitting needles. My bags are strong and sturdy and stay up right without slouching over but can be rolled down while your knitting to let your yarn flow freely.
