For the love of Creatures
My career was as an Earth Scientist protecting the environment, but in 2019 I developed Crohn's-Colitis and became disabled and had to quit working away from home. So I put my all into this shop in early 2020, and it helps me to help animals. I created the shop in 2012 to sell the beds I had invented as a hobby to help the bunnies here (& the first shop to make and sell bunny beds in the world).
Everything created to improve animals' lives - and zipper, foam, plastic coating, and chemical free, made by hand with love in England, unlike most pet beds.
The bed designs are my inventions. Some have copied them, but people who copy other people's ideas haven't put their heart and soul into it, and never do it with the love and dedication that the original person does. These people are trying to make money off my ideas, and some do not even have a much loved rabbit living in their house. They definitely haven't been sewing as long as I have, which is since my grandmother, a tailor, taught me starting age 5.
All packing materials are as eco as possible - cardboard boxes, biodegradable shipping bags and Bubblewrap, and brown kraft paper packing are used. Even the Thank You cards I make are on FSC certified or recycled paper with vegan ink and the stamps have FSC wooden handles. Our electricity is carbon traded through the woodland trust for green energy. Our car is electric, and I walk or cycle to the post office to mail your order. I eat as vegan a diet as possible for my health & all our cleaning and personal products are cruelty free. Our house is an ancient Stuart Period 11 room cottage with half metre thick walls and we have insulated it in the loft (attic) even further.
Since 2010, my husband and I have rescued over 160 bunnies, most of whom we found great homes for, and the rest stayed here as members of our family. Also we have rescued various other animals in need including a kitten, 8 guinea pigs, many pet birds, and more, and we still help wildlife locally when needed.
I support rescues I believe in now that I can not actively be fully involved in rescue with my being special needs, I donate to various charities including bunny rescues, giraffe sanctuary, and more, and send free beds to various rescues or bunnies in need worldwide, here and the UK and in other countries, the USA and have since the beginning. Also now Ukraine pet rescues. We do take in a bunny in need when we can fit another into our family.
