Announcement   Welcome to Hileman Silver Jewelry! Handmade dinosaur bone rings, turquoise engagement rings, turquoise wedding rings, and opal jewelry are our specialties. We also enjoy working with sugilite, lapis, onyx and many other colorful gemstones. We offer unique handmade turquoise wedding ring sets, dinosaur bone rings for men and women, earrings, pendants and bracelets in sterling silver and gold. We also use faceted gemstones such as topaz, amethyst, garnet, diamonds and white sapphires to accent the inlaid opal, dinosaur bone, turquoise and sugilite to create bold and unique color combinations in our jewelry designs. Many of our jewelry designs can be customized so let us help you create a piece of gold or silver inlay jewelry that is uniquely you. Our wedding ring sets are available in his and hers, hers and hers, and his and his combinations. All of the rings in our shop are made to order in your specific size so please allow 4 to 6 weeks for us to create your special piece. All of our designs are handcrafted by the Hileman family in our Arizona jewelry studio.

It is very important that you give us your correct ring size when ordering as it is difficult to adjust the size without using a laser welder and risking damage to the ring. The paper finger sizers you might find on the internet and print out are not accurate so please do not use them. Tracing the inside of the ring and measuring it and measuring around your finger with a string are not accurate either. We have experimented with these methods and found that they vary from a 1/4 size to a full size in error. Please visit a local jeweler (or two) and get your finger sized properly. You should use a sizer that is similar in width to the ring you intend to purchase. The millimeter width of our rings should be included in the description. We depend on you, the customer, to provide us with the correct size so please do not estimate or guess. Our rings are all made to order in your size and are not returnable.

All of our silver inlay jewelry is also available in white gold, yellow gold, platinum and Continuum sterling silver for an additional charge. Send us a message with your ring size for a price quote. Most of our designs are available in 316L stainless steel as well for an additional charge.

I couldn't be happier! This ring is absolutely gorgeous! Mark was very kind, responsive and knowledgeable throughout the whole process. I am so lucky I found this shop! I requested a different gemstone than the one advertised and Mark was able to find one that was just perfect! I highly recommend this shop. I certainly know I will be boasting about it to all of my friends! Thank you thank you, Mark!

Just created this beautiful turquoise wedding ring set from this chunk of Kingman birdseye turquoise rough. This turquoise is a nice shade of blue with a very faint darker blue birdseye pattern and makes for a unique wedding set.
This is the first ring created with some of the new multicolor lab opal I just received. Be on the lookout for more colors in the weeks ahead.
A work in progress. Fitting the turquoise inlay is a precise and very important step in creating a great looking inlay ring.

About

Mark Hileman- Hileman Silver Jewelry

Mark McBride Hileman graduated for the Texas Tech University College of Architecture in 1970. During college and in the following years, various galleries represented his paintings and sculptures. Mark began making jewelry in 1974; the same year he opened his architectural office in Scottsdale, Arizona. The sculptural shapes and use of vibrant inlay color in his jewelry designs are an expansion and blending of his diverse artistic backgrounds. Although Mark’s designs have evolved, his design philosophy has remained the same. Simplicity. Always searching for what is essential and beautiful, whether that be geometrical shapes or flowing curves.

Jewelry is mankind’s most basic adornment. Jewelry is the vision of the artist, transformed by the person that wears it. This art form becomes an unspoken projection of each individual’s personality. The sophisticated uses of opal, precious and semi-precious stones and the unsurpassed precision and quality of the inlay are the hallmarks of his work.

Every piece of Hileman jewelry is handcrafted using the finest materials and craftsmanship from The Hileman Collection studio in Arizona. Mark’s sons, John and Matthew, are involved every day in various aspects of the jewelry making- culminating in a unified effort for perfection in every piece of jewelry created.

We specialize in opal jewelry but also enjoy working with dinosaur bone, sugilite, turquoise and other colorful stones. We offer unique rings, wedding sets, earrings, pendants and bracelets in a variety of unusual and beautiful inlay materials accented by colorful gemstones from all over the world. If you don't see exactly what you are looking for, ask about customizing our designs to fit your taste.

Special Care Instructions for Inlay Jewelry
Here are some simple care instructions to keep your inlay jewelry looking great. These instructions apply to all of our inlay rings including turquoise, dinosaur bone, opal, lapis, onyx, lab opal, chrysoprase as well as all accent gemstones.

First, never clean inlay jewelry in an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. Chemicals and heat may negatively affect the epoxy over a period of time. Also, avoid contact with household cleaners and solvents, as they may breakdown the epoxy as well. If your inlay jewelry is accented by diamonds or other faceted stones, simply brush the stones with a soft toothbrush and mild soap from the top and the bottom. Prolonged exposure to water or oils may weaken the bond between the stones and the epoxy used to hold them in the channel. Remove any tarnish with a polishing cloth and do not dip the jewelry in a tarnish removal liquid.

Second, wear your jewelry with care and common sense. Remove your jewelry before performing any activity that might damage the jewelry, such as exercising, yard work, swimming, dishwashing, etc. Do not wear your inlay ring on a finger adjacent to another ring. The rings will grind against each other and damage the silver and the inlay. Wearing them on the same finger is fine. When not wearing your jewelry, store your jewelry in a cloth bag or box where your other jewelry cannot ding or scratch it. Doing so will also prolong the life of your jewelry and extend the period you can go before needing to be refinished.

Finally, when the surface of the stones or the silver loses its luster, return the piece for refinishing. If you have an accident and break a stone, we can drill it out and replace it without a problem. We recommend returning Hileman Jewelry repairs directly to us. Most jewelers are not experienced with inlay methods and do not have stones to match the ones in your jewelry.

Additional policies and FAQs
RING SIZING -- VERY IMPORTANT!!
Inlay rings are difficult to size without damaging the inlay. If you need the ring in a size other than the size listed on the item, a new matching ring will be custom made in your finger size. We have done this for 40+ years with no complaints about the accuracy of the match. It is very important that you give us your correct size when ordering as it is difficult to adjust the size without using a laser welder and risking damage to the ring. The paper finger sizers you might find on the internet and print out are not accurate- do not use! Measuring with a string or tracing the inside of a ring and measuring it are also not accurate. We have experimented and found that these methods vary from 1/4 to a full size in error. Please visit a local jeweler (or 2) and get your finger sized properly. Ask to use a sizer that is about the same width as the ring or rings you intend to purchase. Our rings are not "comfort fit" so use a regular sizer. We depend on you, the customer, to provide us with the correct size so please do not estimate or guess. Special order size rings and made to order rings are NOT RETURNABLE. If you are giving the ring as a gift, we suggest purchasing the stock ring (if available) for presentation and visiting a jeweler to get your finger sized asap. Then order the ring in the special order size and return the stock ring for matching. Please notify us if the ring is a gift and you might be returning it for another size so we can have the materials ready to speed up the process of making a new one.

Prices listed are for the item as detailed in the description. Some photos may show matching items that are available to match the piece described but are not included in the price. Please contact us if there is any confusion about what you are purchasing. Special order inlay requests or ring size changes may incur additional charges. Men's ring sizes over 11 and women's sizes over 8 require a price adjustment. Please contact us prior to ordering if you wish to make changes and we will give you a price quote.

REACTION TO COPPER
Sterling silver may react with your body chemistry and turn your finger green, or in some cases black, where the ring contacts the skin. If you have a tendency to react to silver you should consider ordering our silver jewelry in stainless steel or our highly recommended tarnish resistant Continuum sterling silver. Our silver jewelry is not rhodium plated like some sterling silver. Please understand that we have no way of knowing if you are part of the small percentage of the population that could experience the "green finger" reaction. We do not accept special order ring size returns due to a copper reaction. Should this occur a simple fix is to paint the inside of the ring with clear nail polish to create a barrier between your skin and the silver. Reapply as needed.

PHOTOGRAPHY
We do all our own photography and go to great lengths to capture the true colors of our jewelry samples. We use 5000k daylight fluorescent bulbs in a light tent to minimize reflections and bring out the sparkle in the gemstones. The colors are not altered and are the true colors of the stones under the optimal lighting of the light tent. Natural sunlight, fluorescent, and different incandescent light sources may make the colors appear different than what is shown on your screen. Your monitor settings as well as the browser you view the images in may also affect the colors shown.

Some photos may show matching items that are available to match the piece described but are not included in the price, such as a matching wedding band. Please contact us if there is any confusion about what you are purchasing.

All of our jewelry is handmade in our Arizona jewelry studio by Mark and his son John.
