I love making personalized shirts for folks of all ages!
I wanted to find a "hobby" that would keep me busy when my baby was napping.. I had NO IDEA what etsy would become to me.
In the fall of 2011, during my seventh month of pregnancy, I chose to quit my retail job that I'd had for over a year. The job was supposed to give me some income and something to do while I finished school; after I graduated in 2010, I stayed at JoAnn just because I loved working around all the inspiring arts and crafts.
Even though I was about to have our first child, and my income wasn't "needed," I wanted to contribute to our growing family in some way, and I desperately wanted to be creative. I found some Christmas ornaments on sale at Hobby Lobby and thought they would be really fun to paint. I took them home and painted a little family on one, labeling them as members of a good friend's family; I showed it to my husband and remarked, "I'm going to put little ornaments on etsy! That's what I'll do. I can paint little family members on them. Everybody loves a personalized Christmas ornament. If I sell 10, that would be awesome!"
Well, two months and over 200 ornaments later, I realized I may be on to something. I painted and packaged and got VERY familiar with the USPS drop-box that year, and mid-December I closed up my shop to clean, nest, and focus on the new member of our family, who arrived January 12 of 2012.
In October of 2012, I got excited as, just as I'd hoped, ornament orders began amassing in my inbox. I took new, nicer photos of samples. I made a few more styles to offer. How many would I create this year? 100? 1000? I closed up for vacation in December with about 375 ornaments hand-painted and mailed out, and I used part of my earnings to purchase a small home embroidery machine. In 2013, my ornament tally jumped to almost 500, and in the spring of 2014, I purchased a commercial embroidery machine to create beautiful things to go along with my ornaments in my shop.
I LOVE creating. I think of new things I could make and sell several times a week; I have notebooks and lists and pens and post-its as far as the eye can see in my house, studio, and car. Our family now has four members, with the youngest born in August of 2013. Creating and selling on etsy has given me a way to contribute to my family without sacrificing time with the littlest members of it. Since 2012, it has been my etsy money that purchased toys for my kid(s) for Christmas, and I've paid for a little weekend getaway each year for my husband and me, alone. It thrills me to be able to make my own business decisions and whip out my own debit card or cash that I earned by selling my art. I am humbled that so many people every year choose to clothe their baby, give a gift, or decorate their tree with something that I made. **THANK YOU** for considering me to make something special for you or your loved one.

I **DO NOT** guarantee any changes made to your order after you check out. I try my best to check messages and entertain amendments to orders that you may have forgotten or changed your mind. But please understand that at my busiest, I can process up to 200 orders a week, and as you can imagine it gets EXTREMELY confusing to flip and click back and forth between messages, order pages, and personal emails. I try my very best to keep up with changes that you'd like to make, but I do not guarantee that a change will be made after you've ordered (unless it's something glaring, obviously, like you misspelled your child's name and I can tell by the order, like you typed "Mihcelle" - in that case I would contact you first to clarify).
When you make your purchase through Etsy, please include this in the "Notes" section of your purchase:
Description of "characters" on the ornament: If it's a bride & groom, baby, family members, etc.
Name & hair color for each. Basic hair description (long, short, curly, bangs, etc. For a bride - veil? flower colors? etc.
Wording on the ornament: wedding date, Our First Christmas, The Smiths, Christmas 2011, Baby's First Christmas, etc. -- what you want the ornament to say.
Etsy automatically combines shipping for multiple ornaments (cool!). Just add as many as you like to your cart and specify the details of each in the "Notes" section of your checkout. **If you are sending ornaments to different addresses, you need to purchase separate listings to pay for each ornament's shipping.** If it's a gift, I will include a small gift card with message of your choice. Don't worry - I do not include any invoice or pricing in my boxes.
FAQs:
1. Include any crazy details such as unique clothing and ribbon color choice. I will personalize your ornament however I am able. However, I am not a ribbon factory so if you have a specific color ribbon that MUST go on the ornament, your best bet is to purchase it yourself. I can usually accommodate, but sometimes I can't, and I'd hate for you to be upset over a ribbon.
2. YES, I can draw pets!! I am asked often to draw a simple version of a family dog or cat. There's an example photo in this listing.
3. TYPICALLY, YOU SHOULD RECEIVE YOUR ORNAMENT(S) WITHIN ABOUT 10 BUSINESS DAYS. You do have the option to rush it within the listing ("One-business day processing" in the dropdown box).
4. Please make every effort to let me know how to customize your ornament IN YOUR CART. I create approximately 200 ornaments a week; I cannot be expected to look back at multiple emails and etsy messages to see your requests. I print out your order and that's my artistic guide. Please tell me your requests there.
5. Canadian friends - shipping from the US to you is notoriously, freakishly slow. Even though I pay ~$10 for shipping, I CANNOT guarantee it to get to you by a certain date. Shipping has been anywhere from 6 days to 2 weeks to Canada from me. If you MUST have it by a certain date, please be prepared to pay extra shipping.
6. *~*Please remember to leave feedback if you are thrilled with your order!*~*
Thank you for reading and THANK YOU for your orders! This year I will be able to stay home with my toddler and newborn son because of my awesome customers.
