Key of A® is an upcycled jewelry and accessory company that was founded in 2008 with a single typewriter and blossomed into a smorgasbord of repurposed designs over the last 14 years. We hand pick found objects and pieces that speak to our artistic vision and create styles that are wearable and fashion forward. Like we say in our listings, we've been upcycling everything but the kitchen sink since we started back in 2008.

We remain a step above all of the "run of the mill" or "$19.95" bullet jewelry you see congesting the Etsy platform these days. Our designs were created and are original works dating back to 2009. We take pride in being the inspiration for so many of the newer shops, but rest assured our quality and design standards, our craftsmanship and mechanics, make our jewelry and accessories stand out and superior. Welcome to the shop and feel free to contact us with your special requests. We house hundreds of unique trinkets, objects, and small antiquities as well as an enormous inventory of casings and calibers of shotgun shells, bullet and rifle casings, all in our Missouri studio. BELOW ARE OUR BUSINESS POLICIES IN REGARD TO RETURNS, EXCHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS:

I DO NOT ACCEPT CANCELLATIONS. If you have a reason that you feel needs further consideration for a cancellation, don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m happy to listen to your reason for needing to cancel and will consider your individual situation.

RETURNS/EXCHANGE POLICY:
NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES. Feel free to contact me anyway to discuss your particular situation. No problem. Communication is the key. You must contact me to be considered for a refund or exchange outside of my standard policy. If I approve a return, I will give you a Return Authorization Number in our written convo. If I approve an Exchange, our written convo will be proof of my approval for the exchange and I will indicate any timeframe limitations for that exchange to take place. Either way, you must convo me through the Etsy platform if you are still seeking an exchange or return as an exception to the standard policy of No Returns and No Exchanges. Should you forego any communication with us and fail to get written authorization or approval as an exception to our stated policy thru the initiation of an Etsy convo with me, stating that such approval has been given, and you unilaterally return your purchase and should we receive such a package back, it will be subject to a 50% restocking fee and any remaining proceeds refunded to you through the original Etsy transaction. Shipping costs are not refundable. Note that I still reserve the right to refuse any refund or cancellation under circumstances such as false claims, altered jewelry, damaged jewelry, or any other material information that comes to light after such approval and/or after receiving and inspecting the jewelry. In these unique instances, my no return, no exchange policy will prevail. In the unlikely instance that you receive an incorrect item, please contact us, take a photo and we will have you mail that item back to us and refund you for First Class shipping cost to return it to us. Item must be repackaged as it was shipped and mailed back to the PO Box listed on the original packaging. Any damage, loss, mishandling or misdelivery of the item(s) back to us are the sole responsibility of the customer. We do not have return labels. If you decide to keep the item or refuse to ship it back, that is up to you, but no refunds will be given. Just the same, if you want to keep what you received, then we will refund or collect for any product pricing difference, whichever applies to your particular situation. If you want to cancel your order as a result of this situation and not return the incorrect item, we will only refund for the difference between what you received and what you ordered if it is a case where the item received was less than the item originally purchased. Any questions, please contact us.

Before contacting me for an exception to the No Return/No Exchange Policy, please review the reasons below where I cannot approve an exception:
1) I will not give refunds or cancellations for an order not received back to our PO Box (i.e. non-delivery, mishandling, mis-delivery, theft, damage or loss). Shipments sent back to us are the sole responsibility of the customer. Shipments sent back without any return authorization by me through an approval in an Etsy convo are the sole responsibility of the sender and we are not responsible for them in any way.
2) I do not refund or cancel for errors in your mailing address. Please make sure the address that you have entered into the Etsy system is free of misspellings, is current and is properly capitalized. We export these addresses thru the integration of our shipping software, directly to the Etsy system, we do not retype them. It is a good idea to check your Etsy account address and your Paypal address to make sure they are up to date and consistent before shopping on any online platform. If we do receive an order back to us for non-delivery due to incorrect address, insufficient address or incomplete addresses, we will be happy to reship your items out, after collecting a new shipping fee from you and verifying the address. If a package sent does not have sufficient postage and there is “postage due” and if we pay that postage, we will collect that postage due prior to reshipping your order. If you attempt to cancel the order or request a refund at that time, your order will be subject to a 50% restocking fee to cover our cost of handling your package up to that point. And it goes without saying that your original shipping cost would not be part of any refund.
3) I also do not refund for these reasons/examples: A) You thought the item was bigger or smaller, B) you decide it's the wrong color, it's heavier or lighter than you thought, C) after receiving it, you decide you didn't like it or no longer need it, D) not reading any part of our shop information, policies, descriptions, photos, etc. where the information was disclosed to you prior to making your purchasing decision.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Although I hand make all of my jewelry, and I am certain I produce quality jewelry that is correct in the jewelry methods I use, and I am confident in its construction, I understand that there may be circumstances that arise upon the receipt of your jewelry. Please read below the reasons for which I I will correct an issue. Please contact me through the Etsy platform, which is the first step to any resolution.

Examples of circumstances that I will correct include, but are not limited to: 1) clasps that do not work, operate or break after first use, 2) wired beads become loose, 3) jump ring is not tight,

If you discover anything like this the first time you wear the jewelry, stop wearing it and contact me immediately. Other issues not listed here will be determined on a case by case basis. If you have worn the jewelry, I assume that you accepted it as being "great" and everything is "okay" with its construction and operation. Contacting me after you've worn it for a period of time and you then claim it is defective does not qualify for return. I do of course offer repair services. In this case, please submit photos and initiate an Etsy convo with me to work out a suitable resolution. And please contact me and HONESTLY relay what happened in wearing your jewelry instead of trying to claim after wearing it that it was all of sudden defective. If it was defective, you should not be wearing it to begin with and you should have already contacted me. Remember, I made it, so contact me and let me help if something is amiss.

Should your jewelry arrive damaged in shipment, again, immediately contact me, as well as take a picture or two and upload those as attachments to your email. I can arrange for a replacement if the item cannot be repaired. I will work with you on a suitable solution to assure your satisfaction on these particular issues. SPECIAL NOTE: I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY JEWELRY BACK FOR RETURN, EXCHANGE OR OTHERWISE THAT HAS BEEN MATERIALLY ALTERED AFTER PURCHASE/RECEIPT BY CUSTOMER. Any alterations immediately void any policies on returns/exchanges. I can only guarantee and stand behind the jewelry as created and shipped and in the manner of construction and with the components utilized at time of shipment. If you are unhappy with a component upon receipt, do not attempt to change it, simply contact me about your issue.

Otherwise, if something should happen in the first 7 days after you've received your item(s), please contact me via the Etsy platform with details of the issue. I do not and have never accepted phone calls through the Etsy platform. Your Order Receipt enclosed in the package gives you instructions on how to contact me, but really it’s as simple as going to your Orders on your account and clicking on Contact Seller. Note: If you purchased your jewelry from me while at a show or other venue, then please email me. If you purchased from another website of mine, then you will need to contact me through the respective website. The Etsy platform and my Etsy shop are for the discussion of Etsy orders only.

IMPORTANT! Communication is the most important element in any transaction. I don’t’ know anything is wrong with your purchase or if you are unhappy with your purchase UNLESS YOU CONTACT ME! See your ORDER RECEIPT contained in your package for the steps to take…CONTACT ME is the first one. Please, do NOT leave your issue in a review. That is unacceptable and not the proper way to communicate with any Etsy seller. An Etsy convo directly with the shop owner is the most efficient way to get your issue handled. Give me the opportunity to help you the issue FIRST. That’s what I’m here for!

A note about our typewriter key jewelry. All of our designs are original to us as we started creating this genre of jewelry in 2008 before many latter shops came into existence on this platform. If you see other shops that opened in later years that are selling our designs, know that they are copies and not our work, our craftsmanship, our quality US components or chains. They are basically infringements of our work and we hope you value originality and the hard work we took to create those original designs way back in our early years and will not purchase from those shops, but instead, purchase from the original artist! Why buy a copy when you can have the original?! Price does equate to quality and proper jewelry mechanics as well as authenticity when it comes to typewriter keys being utilized in jewelry. Our keys are removed from actual vintage typewriters and go through a rigorous process to prepare them for use in jewelry. We never open the keys and use fake "key legends" inside, but keep the keys in their original state. Patina, dents, discoloration and crazing are all evidence that our keys are real and that's what makes this genre of jewelry so attractive. We resell the rest of our machines to restorers and we use ALL keys from EVERY keyboard. You won't find us selling cups of unused keys on Ebay.
