The sweater is totally gorgeous and looks just as good as in the pics. It's very elegant, warm and looks great with jeans as well as dress pants. Thanks so much! Love it!

About

about me. but really about inspiration.

“Knit one, purl two,
this sweater, my darling's for you”

My grandma Carmela's very favorite place was the yarn store. She'd take me there by the hand when I was a little girl and I'd stare wide-eyed at all those balls of color - they were like boxes of colorful crayons come to life!

My grandma would carefully scrutinize the yarns inch by inch, her fingers sifting through, examining the yarns, touching, squeezing, feeling textures, as she sought out perfect colors and quality. Sometimes she’d argue with the shop owner about his yarns because she was so selective about making sure she had only the finest material to create her clothes!

Then back at home she'd take out her knitting needles and without so much as a glance at a pattern, from pure nothing create the most perfectly fitting sweater, hat, scarf or mittens, pants, coats, softly singing ““Knit one, purl two, this sweater, my darling's for you”

... and giggle with delight when she saw my face light up as her creations took life.

They were hand made one-of-a-kind items you’d swear commanded hundreds and hundreds of dollars if you found them in the finest, most exclusive boutiques.

I loved my grandma so much! I wanted to do everything she did, so she taught me her secrets. I was five years old when she’d sit me sat on her lap as she knitted, and without realizing it at the time, I was discovering her personal techniques, her artisan tradition, that one day would inspire my hands.

Sadly, she passed away years ago. She left me her crochet hooks, knitting needles and hairpin lace loom. One day I picked up her knitting needles. Suddenly I felt she was there in the room, watching me over my shoulder, softly singing, “Knit one, purl two...”.

Grandma Carmela would be so proud of me today and honored if you'd consider my etsy shop as your personal closet of precious scarves, sweaters, hats, shrugs, ponchos and gloves... all made of the finest yarns, all original designs, all touched by grandma Carmela’s tradition. For whenever you want to feel cozy on the inside, and look amazing on the outside.

I make everything by hand. Learned it all at the knee of my grandmom as a little girl in Brooklyn, NYC. I was fascinated by how she seemed to make clothes out of thin air!

Ever since then my hands have been touched by hers.

And so I know you'll love my designs. In fact, if no one tells you how absolutely amazing you look wearing my knitwear, return it to me within 30 days. That's my guarantee.

Much love,
Karen

P..S. Do you have an idea for something unique and custom made? I can help you with that. Give me a holler.
