About The Leather Vine

The Leather Vine is a small handcrafted leather art studio conceived from the heart. I love to create handmade leather products that resonate harmoniously with nature, and I’ve been doing it for over 23 years. I am constantly dreaming up new ideas and making people’s visions come to life. Quality built leather goods do come to life, and they get better the more you use them, these leather goods are built to last for your lifetime (with proper leather conditioning). I enjoy making useful items with meaningful artwork, that people can have for a long time.


My Leather Working Philosophy

Leather is functional, wild and beautiful. Because of my profound appreciation for leather and the cow that it came from, I feel responsibility to make the best possible product from the leather. When I see a beautiful piece of leather, I allow it to lead me to the product it is destined to be. I keep my designs simple, showcasing the natural beauty of the leather, and strong, so you can enjoy them at their prime of character and patina.


Moccasins

Leather is the best material for shoes because it breathes, it conforms to your foot, and with proper treatment it can last a lifetime. I build moccasins because they are not rigid like other shoes; they allow you to use all the muscles of your foot so you can walk and stand as if you are barefoot. These moccasins are light in weight and move with your body like a second skin. I use high quality soft, thick leather for comfort and durability. To make the best walking shoes in the world, I use a thin rubber sole that provides necessary traction, just the right amount of cushion, and added durability, while still allowing you to feel the earth. Moccasins can be ordered in a variety of colors including black, milk chocolate, olive green, and caramel.

    I am a leather artist of 25 years. I began working with leather after leaving graduate school for psychology with a Master's degree in 1991. I have been busy ever since. Art is the way I connect with people and the world, and leather is my medium.
