Just as pictured, incredibly cute and love that it already has a hole in it for watering. Thank you for sharing your lovely work!

Modern Handmade Ceramics
Welcome and thanks for visiting The Lulu Bird!
During the day, I am an art therapist; I work with children who have developmental disorders, as well as children who suffer from serious medical illnesses. I love my job, but it can be emotionally taxing, and pottery is my release from all of that. I create functional, wheel-thrown pottery here in Durham North Carolina, and am drawn to simple patterns, clean lines, and unfussy shapes. All my glazes are lead free, and all finished products are food, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
I have a personal theory that everything you need to know about life you can learn from working with clay.
Making pottery teaches you to be present in the moment. It teaches you let go and move on - to accept that things don't always work out the way you want. Sometimes the kiln mis-fires, a piece cracks, or a glaze runs in an unexpected way. Working with clay teaches you that it's ok to get dirty, that you have to always be mindful, and to find that happy space balance between being strong and being gentle.
Here are a few more lessons from the pottery studio:
Enjoy the process
Embrace the unknown
Rethink your definition of "perfect"
Good things take time
There is always more to learn
Thanks for stopping by!
