Wonderful seller to work with, great communication and nice fast shipping. If only they had shipped to me! The recipient's exact words were: "You are all awesome beyond words! These caramels are DELICIOUS! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOM" So I think she liked them. :D

As a disclaimer, The Makery does not operate in a commercial kitchen, but I keep a tidy home kitchen and handle my caramels with the integrity of one who has worked many jobs in the food service industry. I am a small operation and until I outgrow this outfit, I happen to believe that such cottage industry of food production is a healthy part of our food systems.

A very personal process, cooking and the preparation of food are an important societal glue, bringing people together and encouraging social interaction. As you will see, my caramels are made very carefully and hand packaged, requiring a level of emotion that is typically absent from commercial, factory scale production schemes. I do use candy-maker cloth gloves to handle caramels and am familiar with restaurant standards of cleanliness. Candy is a relatively low-risk sort of food as it is heated to a degree far above standard temperatures for pasteurization.

This venture started as an annual tradition of gifts that I made for family and friends around the holidays and their great success eventually gave way to requests by former recipients to purchase my caramels to give to others. I assure you the Makery has only the intention to make life a little sweeter, in a very small way. Please see my feedback for evidence that anyone who has ever tasted my caramels feels much the same way.

The Makery accepts Paypal only.
Shipping
The Makery ships all caramels in the United States via USPS Priority Mail for timely arrival. All International caramels are sent via USPS Global Priority mail. If you live outside the US and don't mind waiting a little for your bundle, I don't at all mind shipping First Class mail to save you some dollars, though any delay in arrival is the responsibility of the buyer.

Housewares and non perishables are shipped via parcel post with insurance, standard.

All items are shipped within 48 hours of receiving payment. If you live in the East Bay, I am also happy to arrange for a pickup any day of the week at your convenience.
Refunds and Exchanges
RETURNS
Owing to the edible nature of my products, at this time, I cannot offer returns for caramels. However, if you are for some reason unhappy with your purchase, I am more than happy to discuss a possible refund with you on a case by case basis.

I will happily accept returns for housewares if you change your mind or a particular item isn't what you'd imagine. I do my best to describe things accurately and in detail, but if I've left something out don't hesitate to ask a question before you buy.

For returns, I will refund the cost of the item but shipping is buyer's responsibility.
