This is by far my most favorite thread, and I shall always plan to order it from Emily and The Morose Bee. Every detail of the package from the recycled/recyclable packaging, the tissue paper, the shipping time, and the quality of the thread is just wonderful. I am looking forward to creating with these threads for years to come, and shall continue to arrive back to The Morose Bee for my projects and recommend this shop to friends and family as well. Many thanks and warm well wishes!

Such a beautiful swatch of linen! It is of beautiful weight, color, and quality, and beautifully packaged and sent as well. I generally try to create with only linen if at all possible, and this is my second linen yardage that I have received from The Morose Bee... I quite expect it won't be my last as well! That it is organic is even more exciting. The Scanfil thread is the perfect addition to this as well. I am looking forward to creating. Many thanks and every good wish!
The Morose Bee started in my college dorm room in 2008 as a creative outlet in between studying and working. My early products were mostly up-cycled items and vintage finds, but as time went on I began to explore new materials from ceramics to textiles.
I noticed with each new project I would undertake left me feeling like I was only contributing to climate change. Frustrated that it seemed like there was so much low quality, synthetic, and harmful products filling craft stores, I knew it was time for The Morose Bee to offer something more. While I still love making handmade items from time to time, The Morose Bee is now primarily a place to shop or trade sustainable fabric and notions.
I believe that makers shouldn't have to choose between following their passion or their desire to live more sustainably. I strive to create a more eco-friendly shopping experience by offering sustainably made new products as well as secondhand materials and destash items.
The motivation behind The Morose Bee comes from my desire to support your creativity while staying engaged in environmental activism. I enjoy sewing, vegan cooking, and spending time enjoying my hometown of Austin, TX.
A print shop
All artwork is owned and design by me, but I don't have a machine to make patches.
I've been creating items, selling on Etsy, and occasionally doing craft shows since 2008. I've worked hard to refine my vision and only focus on products that bring joy to me and my customers.
