As an artist I am inspired by color, pattern and texture, animals, faces, and the natural world. When I lived in the city, I was always fascinated with the buildings: the shapes, the rhythms, the size. Now that I'm a country girl, my exploration has turned to nature. These days if I'm not in the studio painting, I'm often out in my Vermont woods exploring and foraging, or working in my garden or on the land. I'm still a skydiver, yoga teacher, sailor, mom, all that stuff. Life is full, just like my paintings!
It's crazy to find myself in my late 50's, looking back on DECADES of making art! I started as a kid and never stopped. I do believe, however, that it's only lately that I have finally hit my stride, and my paintings are at last showing an amount of depth and thought, a maturity, a surety, that I finally have the patience and wisdom to produce.
I am always honored and amazed when people fall in love with my paintings. I am often asked how I can stand to let go of these little pieces of me. Well, I love sending them out into the world! I suppose I make art in order to connect with the world and show what I am thinking and experiencing, and if someone else relates to that experience or thought, it's awesome!
