About TheMountainDruidess

I thought I'd pop-in and introduce myself, my name is Jessica and I am the artist behind The Mountain Druidess.

I wanted to let you know more about me so that you may understand where my artistry and intention comes from.
I was born and raised in San Diego, CA . I went to UC San Diego and got a BA in Psychology and Studio Art.

I did some Grad School work for Expressive Arts Therapy both in San Diego and Saas-Fe Switzerland, unfortunately I had to quit for financial reasons.

It took a couple of years before I really took the plunge to dedicate myself to my first love, art. It was scary and uncertain, but is anything worthwhile ever not?

I was living in LA, and that city with all it's hustle and bustle can really do something to spark independence and the true embrace of individuality.
I'd come to the conclusion that everything that had happened in my life had served a purpose and everything was pointing to take the plunge. All the things that lit a fire in my heart were making a come-back at the same time in my life, when I
encountered the lost art of electroforming. My first encounter with the art form made my heart skip a beat, I had never seen something so beautiful, it sung to me.
The art form encapsulated so many of my interests and I saw so much potential in the art form. I had taken Jewelry Smithing classes in college so the idea of actually being able to do it never really slowed me down.

I did however hit a financial wall, getting started and acquiring all that I needed was an impossibility. So I just read and read and read and did my research for a whole year preparing myself and obsessing over the art form.

My boyfriend's mom, seeing my obsession, generously got me everything I needed to get started. I am so grateful. After seeing what I could do she also gifted me the name "The Mountain Druidess." I've been making jewelry for 2 years now. It's so synchronous how so many things that I studied or took some left paths on came back to help me with this work. When I started to really follow my passions, doors started to open.
I've since been working with spirit, through shamanic practices to give birth to some interesting pieces. I work with the tarot and my intuition for my subject matter. Every piece I make, I create by thinking about the person it is going to. I often get symbols and ideas and just find a way to bring them to life. In a like manner, making this jewelry, has taken me places I never imagined. It has lead me to become an Aztec Dancer (indigenous Aztec Dance from Mexico). It has also allowed me to meet incredible and inspiring people like you with your stories. It is the best part of going to a fair/show.
So when you hear me say that I make everything with intention, I trust that they will resonate with somebody like you because I made it for you.
This path is not so easy but it is rewarding and I thank the universe for all the opportunities I've had and even the roadblocks i've had.
If you like what I do please consider supporting me by liking, sharing, or adopting a new piece. Your support helps me to continue on this path, put food on the table for myself and my fur babies.
I one day aspire to create a life for myself where I can continue to make art and have a community space with fresh offerings for all people to help heal the world one person at a time. I really want to create a beautiful container that envelopes all the scopes I have learned. I also wish to continue my education and acquire a PhD.
