About

Beautiful Items for Slow Gifting

I began creating handmade celebration countdown calendars because it fit perfectly with my ideas for thoughtful celebrations. I wanted to promote fun, family traditions and heirloom countdown calendars that can be used for sweet celebrations together year after year seemed like the perfect fit. I created my first colorful countdown calendar as a birthday gift for my niece. The idea is that she can countdown to her birthday each year with little gifts or treasures inside each bag.

As a child, growing up, my mom would often put little surprises in handmade gift bags for special occasions. I would usually find these gift bags at my place at the kitchen table. My ideas for handmade gift bags usually come to me based on gifts that I'm giving - for example, I created the prototype for the "love" gift bag when brainstorming a gift for my sister-in-law's wedding. We knew that we would be gifting money, but a card and envelope with money didn't seem quite special enough. I purchased a beautiful letterpress card, then hand-embroidered the word "Love" on a handmade gift bag in my handwriting. We used the gift bag as the envelope, and it can also be used by the couple, year after year, for gifting small special gifts to one another on their wedding anniversary.
