Announcement    ***Orders will ship 2-3 weeks after being placed***
International orders for piggy banks, pie plates and Santa plates are being accepted and will only ship via USPS Priority International Mail at this time.

Piggy Banks, Pie Dishes, Cookies for Santa Plates. Hand Painted and Original, Unique Designs. Personalize with a name or short phrase. Perfect Gifts for ALL Occasions. Also, Replacement Rubber Stoppers for Piggy Banks.

My piggy banks measure 7 inches tall to the tip of the ears and are about 7 inches long. They are a nice medium size. Not a jumbo size, and definitely not too small. And, the only size I make.

Because I make my them from "scratch", I can also make my piggy banks with NO HOLE in the bottom. And even though I hate to hear that you want a piggy bank to break open, if you need a personalized HAMMER to do that, visit my friend Sam and her personalized hammers at https://www.etsy.com/shop/rusticcraftdesign?section_id=13530546 .

** Orders are painted in the order they are received, and then shipped out via USPS. Orders are shipping approximately 2-3 WEEKS after being placed. **

Thanks for stopping by ThePigPen on Etsy... formerly known as Korff Ceramic Originals, where everything is painted by me, in my home, Lynn Korff : )

Welcome to The Pig Pen - Welcome to my home

Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I've been selling online since 2000. Since then, I've sold an average of 500 piggy banks per year. That boggles my mind. In all my years of working from home, I've sold Thousands of piggy banks! THOUSANDS. Whew. Let me tell you why that is mind boggling....

Each of my piggy banks is hand-cast from a plaster mold. Each mold weighs about 20 pounds. I have 8 molds in my basement that I cast on a regular basis. I use liquid clay (that I get locally) to pour into these molds. A filled mold probably weighs 30 or so pounds. A bucket of slip (liquid clay) weighs about 20 pounds. Honestly, I should have awesome upper body strength from all the lifting and moving of the molds and slip. But alas, that is not the case, because....

The rest of the piggy bank's journey requires me to sit. I sit to clean the seams lines off (in the kitchen). Then stand briefly to put them in the kiln (which takes several hours to fire)(in the garage). Then I am sitting again to glaze and paint designs (in the kitchen. for hours on end). Then standing again to put them in the kiln a second time (garage). Then sitting to personalize and and detail designs (kitchen). Then standing again to pack and ship (basement).

If it sounds like a lot of work, it actually is. But I love it. For all the thousands of piggy banks I have cast, painted, and fired over the years (and Santa plates and pie plates), I still enjoy what I do. And it is still like Christmas morning every time I open the kiln and see the finished, glazed piggy banks. I hope that whoever out there in the world has one of my piggy banks, pie plates or cookies for Santa plates, enjoys it as much as I've enjoyed making it :)

Here's to many more years and many more piggy banks! Cheers!

My piggy banks are made from "scratch." I have the plaster molds in my basement and use liquid clay (slip) to create the greenware. Each piggy bank is carefully cleaned, then fired in one of the kilns in my garage. It is then glazed (painted) to order and fired again.

All my designs use non-toxic, lead-free, ceramic glazes that are fired onto the pieces. This makes my designs permanent and part of each piggy bank, pie dish or Santa plate. I have no stock on hand, everything is hand painted to order just for you. This makes each piece one of a kind and extra special.
