How it all began
I really never thought I had a creative or artistic bone in my body. I tried some little craft projects from time to time, but nothing I deemed worthy of putting a price tag on....just little nic nacs to place around my own home.
Then back in 1998, the day right after Christmas, while having a family gathering at my Moms, I received a phone call......my house was on FIRE! Long story short, we lost everything! It was such a devastating time. Being a young couple struggling week to week to make ends meat, as my husband was the only one working at the time, and I was a stay at home mother of three girls, we often couldn't pay some of our bills, and that particular month, our insurance on our home had lapsed . So we literally had nothing. Fortunately, through the help of family, friends, churches, and organizations like Salvation Army and Red Cross, we got back on our feet again, and eventually got another house. But we still struggled financially. I wanted to decorate our new place, make it feel more like home, but did not have the extra money to be spending on EXTRAS, so I decided to try my hand at crafting again.
My husband was using a scroll saw one day, and I just HAD to try it. I will be honest, the first several pieces I cut went right into the trash, but I was determined to get better, and I DID. Then I experimented with painting....that was another trashcan deposit! But much like the scroll saw, I got better.....practice makes perfect RIGHT?
After several years of practicing, and gifting my creations to family and friends, I was encouraged to start selling my projects.
I started selling on eBay to start with and later heard about Etsy one day on the web and decided to try it out. I have been selling on Etsy since 2011 and I absolutely LOVE IT! I recently quit my day job to focus solely on my Etsy shop.
I love creating things for people to display in their homes, and am so pleased when they are happy with their selections from my shop.
