About

Art inspired by passion

Carey Buckner, the visionary, torch-wielding glass artist behind Fontenot Glass Designs, believes ambiance does more than merely set a mood. Light is the power by which our days revolve, and the same is true for the more intimate spaces of our lives. It is fitting, then, that her fascination with space and atmosphere should find an outlet in lampworking and glass art.
In 2005, while looking for an art project for her and her daughter, Carey stumbled across images of ornate glass lights, and shortly after, she took up lampworking. She found the torch felt natural in her hand, and thousands of intricate glass beads later, she wanted to see what else she could do with her trusted flame.
Inspired by her travels across the globe, she wanted to capture the details that make a place evocative. Before long, she was creating custom glass lights for clients, from pendants to chandeliers, one-of-a-kind glass cabinet hardware, and suspended glass art adding unique architectural detail.
