Crafted by hand

While machines have brought books into the modern age, the centuries-old hand-binding techniques have withstood time. As with all arts and crafts project, it’s the human touch that adds that something special. At The Siam Bindery, we’re continuing on the hand-bound bookmaking path using some time-honoured binding techniques.

It takes us several hours to craft each book. Everything is done entirely by hand using craft and bookbinding hand tools. The pages of each book get hand-sewn to the book covers or leather medium, which means that these notebooks are unlike the mass-produced notebooks found in any stationary shop.

We source our supplies from trusted vendors, respecting fair-trade agreements and environmental preservation policies. Many of our supplies take on a rustic aesthetic and are handmade, while other products incorporate tribal, natural and modern South East Asian elements.

Our tools and stationary are well-suited for beginner bookbinders, scrapbooking afficionados, and other craftspeople.

Returns and exchange details
1. Returns and exchanges
If you feel that you have valid reason for wanting your product exchanged, kindly contact us within 3 days of receiving your item. We ask that you provide photo proof of the defective issue for our inspection. In the case where we do agree on an exchange, the buyer needs to ship the item back to The Siam Bindery within 7 days of receiving the item. Kindly ship the product back with a tracking number to ensure that it reaches us. We are unable to process returns and/or exchanges if a package fails to reach us. Furthermore, all additional shipping costs (return of old product plus shipping costs for the exchanged product) will be for the buyer. Returns and exchanges cannot be proceeded until we have received the original product in good condition.

1.1 Return of physical and digital combination items
Kindly note that if you'd like to return your toolkit, the price of the e-tutorial (digital item) will be deducted from the total product value.1.2 DamageIn the case where an item is not returned in its original condition, or in the case certain components are damaged or missing, the value of said components will be deducted from the product's value.

2. Cancellations
We accept cancellations on customized orders within 1 hour after the order has been placed. Once work on a custom order has started, no cancellations/refunds will be granted.

3. Digital products
All downloadable products, including but not limited to e-manuals, digital paper and journal paper, are strictly non-refundable.

4. Customized/Personalized products
Key to our business is the creation of customized, one-of-a-kind products for you. Due to the custom nature of our products, we are unable to refund your order.

5. Free Shipping Promotion
When you purchase an item with a free shipping promotion and wish to have it returned/exchanged, the value of shipping, including the cost of packaging, will be deducted from the original price of the product.

If there is an issue to your order caused by us, you may opt for a product replacement, credit on a future order or a full product refund (exclusive of shipping charges).  To ensure an easy return process, email us at admin [!at] thesiambindery.com with your order number and proof of defect.

Payment
We accept payment via Paypal. Items will only be shipped once payment has cleared.
Shipping
1. Getting your package ready
All packages are prepared and shipped out within 1-5 working days of a payment's clearance.

Rest assured that we take great care in packing all items before shipping.

2. Delivery address
Kindly make sure that you provide your correct/full shipping address, as well as a valid telephone number to put on your package. We ship to the address provided to us by you via Etsy. We are not responsible for items getting lost due to the provision of incorrect shipping details. Furthermore, we are not responsible for packages getting lost due to post office error.

3. Change of Address
Once a package has been shipped, we are not able to change the shipping address, add telephone numbers or other details to boxes, or have packages re-routed.

4. Acceptance of package
Do take note that a signature might be needed when receiving your package, particularly for Airmail and EMS packages. If a package has not been signed for and gets returned to Thailand, the buyer alone in responsible for carrying re-shipping costs. Additionally, if an item has not been signed for and has been returned to Thailand, the buyer may not request or make claim to receive a refund/credit.

4.1. If you are not able to sign for your package, please ask a friend/family member to sign for it on your behalf.

4.2. TRACK THE LOCATION OF YOUR PACKAGE ONLINE until it gets delivered to you/you receive it. If a package was out for delivery and you were not available to sign for it, your package will be returned to your local post office. Your package's status will then show "Addressee not available at time of delivery". Once you see this message, immediately contact your local post office to collect your package. Only the addressee is able to follow up on the package once it leaves Thailand - we are not able to do so.

Packages that are returned to local post offices are kept for approximately 1 - 3 weeks (depending on the country and post office policies). They will not be delivered to you again, and the post delivery service/post office will not call you to inform you that you have a package to collect. This is 100% your responsibility. After 1 - 3 weeks, your package will be returned to Thailand.

5. International shipping duration
All packages to the following countries are shipped with Thailand Post's SAL Economy Airmail service and takes approximately 15 - 21 business days to be delivered: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Hong Kong, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States

All packages to countries not listed above are shipped with Thailand Post's Airmail service and takes approximately 10 - 15 business days to be delivered. Do note that holidays and other events might have an impact on the shipping duration.

Shipping within Thailand is with Thailand Post's EMS service and takes approximately 1 - 3 business days.

Please note that these dates are only a guide. Packages are usually delivered within the above timeframes. However, we are unable to guarantee delivery within these timeframes.

If you need your package delivered by a specific date, please allow ample time for shipping, or request a price for express shipping (DHL, Fedex, TNT, EMS).

6. Tracking number
All packages ship with tracking numbers. You can track your package's location here: http://track.thailandpost.co.th/tracking/default.aspx

7. Shipping weight : Shipping price
Please take note that the more items you buy, the more expensive shipping becomes. If you would like to know the prices for express shipping (3-7 business days) or freight shipping (12-14 weeks), feel free to let us know and we'll provide you with a shipping estimate.

8. Customs and taxes
Buyers are fully responsible to pay for any taxes that may be levied upon receiving their packages. If your package has been selected for inspection, please note that it may take some time to pass through customs and may have an impact of the delivery dates.

Additionally, please note that Thailand Post requires all Priority Airmail packages to be secured with staples and/or cord (and not glued or taped shut) so that they can be easily inspected by customs officers during their routine inspections.

9. Shipping costs refunds
Postage and packaging charges are strictly non-refundable, unless it's due to an error on our part. 

Postage and packaging fees are non-refundable for refused or undelivered/uncollected parcels.

10. Free Shipping promotions
We occasionally run free shipping promotions. Also, we offer free shipping to a select number of countries. If a package has been unclaimed, uncollected or refused and has been returned to Thailand, and in the case that we do agree on a refund, the price of shipping and packaging, including packaging, tax and selling fees, will be deducted from the original product price.

When you purchase an item with a free shipping promotion and wish to have it returned, the value of shipping, including the cost of packaging, tax and selling fees, will be deducted from the original price of the product. For more information on returns and refunds, read the "Returns and exchanges" policy above.

11. Lost packages
If your package has not been delivered to you (no one has signed for it), please contact us or Thailand Post to open a query. Thailand Post takes between 1 and 6 weeks to follow up on packages. If a package has been lost, you will be entitled to a full refund or reshipping of another product. Refunds and reshipping will only be granted once we receive official proof from Thailand Post that the package has been lost and a refund has been granted by them.

If you have not followed up on a package in 180 days since it has been shipped, you are not entitled to make any claims.

Frequently asked questions
Do you accept payments other than Paypal?

You can check out your item/s with a credit or debit card via Paypal.

Here's how:

1) Click "Check out with PayPal" and you’ll be redirected to PayPal. Instead of choosing to pay with your PayPal account, select "Pay with Debit or Credit Card".

2) You'll be prompted to fill in your billing and credit card information.

3) Enter your email address so PayPal can send you a receipt.
4) Click Continue to return to Etsy. Your payment isn't sent until you click Submit order on Etsy.

Do you sell wholesale?

Yes, we often process wholesale orders. Contact us via email to admin [!at] thesiambindery.com if you are interested in purchasing any items wholesale.

Do you have a cheaper shipping option?

All our packages ship with Thailand Post's Priority Airmail service (10 - 15 business days) unless you request a cheaper shipping method. Do note that Thailand Post's Economy Airmail option is not available to US, Russian, and customers from select countries.
The cheapest shipping method is with Thailand Post's Surface Mail service and takes approximately 12 weeks.

What size journal can I make with your toolkits?

Our toolkits teach aspiring bookmakers how to make either an A5 or A6 journal. The text block of an A5 journal converts to 5.83 × 8.27 inches, and the text block of an A6 journal to 4.1 x 5.8 inches. When stitching the text block to the leather/fabric/book board, the size of your book would increase by approximately 0.2-0.6" in height and 0.1-0.3" in width.

Order Preparation

The time we need to prepare an order for shipping (delivery) is 1-7 business days. We usually process orders within 1 - 3 business days. 
Please note that we prepare and ship orders only on business days (Monday to Friday), not including weekends and/or public holidays.

I can't track my package.

Don't worry! When a package leaves Thailand and is on the way to your country, the tracking system can not show its location as the package is in transit mode and has not been checked into your country yet.

"Marked as Gift"

None of our packages ship with order Packing Slips and Order Receipts. This means that, for those who buy a product to give as a give, you don't need to worry about the product prices being mentioned on any receipts in the box/packaging. Do note that we are obligated to declare the value of our products on customs forms which are glued to our packages.
