About

Handmade & Vintage

At Bobbins and Bombshells I've been combining my love of handmade and vintage since 2008! However, I've been crafting and collecting vintage for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Maine wearing hand-me-downs and winter hats and gloves my mother knitted us. Combining my love of handmade and vintage seems so natural to me. Before selling on Etsy, I owned Ouvrez La Porte, an indie designer/ vintage emporium in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. When I closed shop in 2008, I started Bobbins and Bombshells as a blog to stay in tune with the craft and vintage world. It has evolved over the years and I'm thrilled to see it's future! Thanks for your support!

Handmade Knits: I strive to use high quality all natural materials and hand knit or crochet all items myself. While acrylic fibers are cheaper, they are not good for the yarn spinner, the knitter, or the wearer so I avoid man-made materials. Hand knits are special in this day and age and should be hand washed. Use cool water and a delicate wash. Dry flat. I recommend Eucalan, Soak, or The Laundress.

Handmade Bridal: My handmade bridal garters are composed of a mixture of vintage and new materials including laces, satin, and velvet. With each one I hope to create a special piece that could become an heirloom. Most of my garters are sold in sets, keep one- toss the other! I hope to expand to more bridal accessories in the future.

Vintage: I've always been an avid vintage collector, wearer, and fashion history buff. If I find a special piece, I can't help but grab it! I can't keep it all, unfortunately, so lucky for you here is where I can share my collection. Please note my vintage condition guide in every listing.

Cheers,
Karen

Shipping
All listed items are in stock and ready to ship!

I do my best to ship the following business day after payment is received and items are processed. Most listings have calculated shipping with expedited upgrades available to you. Shipping fees are based on the weight of the item in its packaging. Items shipped in the US weighing 13 ounces or less are sent via first class mail. Items weighing over 13 ounces are sent via priority. Shipping does not include insurance unless the value is over $100.00 US. International sales are shipped via first class international. If you would like to purchase insurance or upgrade to priority mail service, please contact me prior to completing the payment process.

International customers are responsible for all fees associated with shipping to their respective countries. Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for further information. When customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates. All international orders will have full value declared on customs forms - no exceptions.
