About
A little about me...
I grew up in the studio with my parents, creators of the Francesca Doll Co. Self taught, they built a world of unending beauty and artistry. Primarily known for working for Walt Disney World in the early eighties- they were commissioned to create dolls exclusively for the various shops there, all hand made by our family- their porcelain, museum quality dolls were eventually sold worldwide for 30 years.
Growing up, I was always beside my Mom while she created, occasionally, I made it to the ceramic and home made mold and kiln room to help my Dad, and I did everything growing up, from assembling the dolls, sewing them by hand, the ceramics, painting, hand crafting the many props just to name a few that went with the some 300 different characters.
I was encouraged very early to create art, and I was able to explore many different mediums.
In 1984 I was accepted into the Pratt Institute with a full scholarship, with sculptures in porcelain and stoneware.
In 1994 -1998 I opened The Sunroom Gallery, a little retail space in Newport, RI where i was able to sell and learn retail sales of my work, and painting and running a studio gallery.
In 2000 - present I moved to sunny South Florida to pursue my art in a warm climate and freelance my work. It has been and still is in numerous retail shops, furniture stores across Florida.
In December of 2008 I opened underthenightmoon.etsy.com to pursue my passion for fabrics, shabby decor, the decadent Marie Antoinette, and anything to do with the rose....
