Finding some sunshine

I've always loved crafting and creating things. I thought about starting a shop many times but never made it a priority. In 2012, I had a beautiful baby boy, Jason Jr. aka Monkey. The day he was born was supposed to be the best day of my life, but it quickly turned out to be the most tragic. We only had a few short hours with our son before he passed away, and nothing was ever the same again. As part of my grieving and healing process, I started crafting again. I found things that reminded me of him, especially things with monkeys on them, and turned them into necklaces. I made things for a few dear friends who had angel babies, too. I kept making things and expanding my ideas but didn't focus on selling things at all. After 3 years of just playing around with it all, I decided to open my shop. I work full time during the day in an office, and do most of my crafting at night after my 2 year old goes to bed. She likes to play with everything, and helps me take photos for the shop. She's helped me through a very dark time and is a big part of why I decided to work towards something I love.
My shop name came from my son's nickname and the song You Are My Sunshine, which I sang to both my babies while I was pregnant with them.

Welcome, and thank you for visiting The Sunshine Monkey! I love to craft and create, and my focus often changes - I like to call what I do "eclectic randomness." All the items listed in my shop are handmade by me. Custom orders will be coming soon, and until then please check out my Facebook and Instagram for ideas, or message me!

My Facebook page has updates, new items before they're listed for sale here, photos of custom items, and ideas for more.
My Instagram is sadly neglected, as I usually post my newest creations to my main account in my excitement, then repost them to my business one, but I'm trying to remember to use it more! User name on Instagram is thesunshinemonkey.

All my creations are made in my home, where I live with a big, hairy black Labrador. While I try my best to keep my work area clean, I can't promise that a piece of dog hair won't make it into your box or package; that's Houston saying "Hello!"

Please make sure your shipping address is correct before completing your order!

I use calculated shipping, so simply look at the shipping section of a listing to see how much shipping to you will be.
Ready to ship and most made-to-order items are shipped 3-5 business days after payment is received, sometimes sooner. Custom orders may take a week or so right now.

International customers will be responsible for paying any fees added by their country. Orders will not be marked as gifts. Please give your package time to get to you! If you don't receive it within 8 weeks of it being shipped, please send me a message.

First Class is the least expensive shipping option, but please remember that it is not insured and delivery dates are not guaranteed. Priority mail costs more but is insured for up to $50 and is often faster, but delivery dates are not guaranteed. Priority mail express is a more expensive shipping option, but is faster, includes insurance up to $100, and is guaranteed.

Please realize that once a package is dropped off, it is out of my hands. I can not control the postal system, customs, the weather, or any other factor that might keep your package from getting to you. Rarely a package will show as delivered on tracking when it hasn't been. Sometimes it will show up in your mailbox within a day or two. If it remains missing after a few days, please check with other family members, neighbors, and your postal carrier to see if someone took in the package and forgot to tell you, it was delivered to the wrong address, or the carrier remembers where they left it. If it is still missing, contact me. Together we will try to find out where it is. We will file a report with USPS for lost or stolen mail and you may be asked to file a police report if it was deemed stolen.
Refunds and Exchanges
Items can be returned for a refund within 14 days if in their original form. Refunds with not be issued until I receive the item back, and the customer will be responsible for paying the return shipping. Shipping will not be refunded.

If an item arrives damaged or broken, please contact me and send me a photo. A duplicate item will be sent to you, after the broken one is mailed back to me. Customer will be responsible for the cost of shipping it to me.

If a package arrives to you open and/or missing items, let me know! Don't throw away the packaging, and take photos of it. This will help when opening a case with USPS.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please note that items, especially those made of bezels, gloss, and glass, are not waterproof and should not be worn during while swimming or showering. While not extremely fragile, items are not unbreakable and should be handled with care. Polymer clay is often flexible after being baked, please be careful if your pendant has microbeads on it as bending the clay may make them loose.

If you see something you like but it's sold out or a different color that you want, send me a convo so we can talk about a custom piece!

Please remember to come back and leave me a review!
If you have any issues at all, please message me before leaving negative feedback!
