About

Tikis & Talavera: Color, Culture and Class - with a Side of Sass.

I discovered pottery in high school, as a counselor in the art shed of a day camp in New Jersey. Some people get bitten by the "acting bug;" I was bitten by the "clay bug." Well, now it's been over 25 years, and I've never stopped.

These days, I live in Salem, MA. I am an attorney by day, and an artist by night. I was inspired to carve Tikis a few years ago, while wishing for spring during a long, New England winter. I think that's why I'm so drawn to Talavera -- the bright colors always make me think of summer.

I've always thought that my work is the product of my two lives -- the intricate, careful details of an attorney; combined with the humor and whimsy of an artist. Put it all together, and you have my Etsy shop: Tikis and Talavera!
