Est. 2015

My name is Joseph Jàuregui, founder and creator for The Wooden Circle Co, based in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, and specialising in non-traditional handcrafted rings. I graduated with a Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering at UTS, and began my career in the engineering world. Whilst working as an engineer, I longed to put my passion of making things and working with my hands to good use, but didn’t quite know how, until I stumbled across the skill of bentwood ring making. It was the perfect side project, and I enjoyed learning this new craft. Little did I know at that stage that my hobby would soon replace my 9 to 5 career.

In August 2015, whilst still working full-time, I opened a Etsy shop with about 10 different types of bentwood rings. As with all new business ventures, it was slow going at the start. In our first month, I sold a grand total of 2 rings! Not one to quit easily, I persevered and as the months went by I worked hard to increase our brand awareness and expand our range by introducing other materials such as gold, silver, tantalum and many more. As time passed, the popularity of our rings grew. Before I knew it there weren’t enough hours in the day to craft all the ring orders we were receiving. I made the hard decision to leave my secure engineering job in July 2016 to venture into the world of small business, and focus on The Wooden Circle Co full time. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions of my life.

Now at almost 5 years on, we have grown a lot since our humble beginnings. To date, we have sold rings to 35 countries spread across 6 continents and currently have over 200 different types of rings that we handcraft. We are constantly gathering inspiration from the world around us for new designs, ideas and exotic materials. We currently work from our home studio using traditional jewellery making techniques to craft our pieces. The methods we use allow us to create custom pieces that feature both individuality and personality.

Each piece is mindfully crafted, for our wooden rings, we only use FSC certified local and exotic wood. None of our wooden pieces are exactly the same, this is the result of hand-crafting each piece. We bend simple 'wooden circles' into beautiful bespoke pieces of jewellery for you to enjoy. We also craft rings from other precious and semi-precious metals, currently working with over 15 different materials. We source and use 100% recycled silver for our rings, and try to, whenever possible to source recycled gold.

We’re excited and optimistic for the future, and look forward to crafting bespoke jewellery for many years to come.

Frequently asked questions
Care instructions for your ring

Our wooden rings cannot be treated like a full metal ring in regards to durability and the hard wearing nature of the ring. Our wooden rings are sealed with a clear hard coat, making it water resistant. We still recommend keeping the ring as dry as possible. The ring should be removed whilst swimming, doing manual tasks that may overly scratch or knock the ring.

Wooden rings shouldn't come into contact with any chemicals, including hand sanitisers or alcohol based creams/soaps & chlorine.

You should never allow chlorine to come into contact with any gold rings.

Our wooden rings are more of a fashion piece & when deciding on a ring that will stand the test of time and everyday wear & tear, we recommend going with a full metal ring.

Sizing details

Although our store is set to US sizes we work with AU sizing also, let us know your AU size and we can convert it.

It's very important that you get an accurate size, you can either order our plastic ring sizer (for rings of 6mm width or less). Or go to a local reputable jeweller to be sized. We would recommend going to 2 different jewellers to double check your size. If you are wanting to purchase a ring 6mm or wider, ask the jeweller to use the wide ring sizers to ensure an accurate size.

Ring wider than 6mm may need a size compensation, please note we don't make any compensation, we make our rings to true sizing according to the size that is ordered.

Please get into contact with us first if you are unsure about your size

Guarantee of Craftsmanship

The Wooden Circle warrants each ring against defects in materials and workmanship , for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of purchase.

This guarantee shall only apply whilst the ring is cared for and maintained in accordance with the instructions provided. This guarantee does not extend to cover the ring or any part thereof which in the opinion of the Company is worn by fair wear and tear and/or has been damaged by abuse, misuse, negligence or inadequate care.

Our bentwood rings are crafted by actually bending a piece of wood around the circumference of the ring, there is a starting and ending point to the wood and there may be a small seam that is visible where the wood ends.

Resizing details

As mentioned in "Sizing details", it is very important that an accurate size is obtained before an order is placed. Do not use string or paper as this is extremely inaccurate!

As most rings cannot be resized. Typically we can only increase a ring size by 1/4 to 1/2 size. When a resize cannot be achieved a new ring would have to be made.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

Shipping "return to sender"

Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. TWC is not responsible for delays due to customs.

On the occasion that customs duty is not payed in time, or if the recipient is not able to collect/recieve the item, or if an incorrect postal address is provided to TWC, the item will be returned to sender. In this instance, for the parcel to be resent to you and the postage charge will need to be repaid.

Is the Tantalum we use a Conflict Material?

We import it from a refinery overseas. A non conflict country. This factory has ISO 9001, 14000 & 18000 certification. So they are completely up to date with sustainability and ethical sourcing of materials and processes.

We take this sort of thing very seriously and would never create pieces from material that is sourced unethically.
