From Hobbyist To Cross Stitch Professional

I've always loved cross stitch. When I was 8 years old I was given a small kit by a neighbour - a little green wheelbarrow full of flowers. I gave it a go and have been hooked ever since. I would save up my pocket money and work through the cross stitch kits in the local craft shop.

In my teens I started to stitch my own designs. Cross stitch software wasn't available back then so I'd sketch out my subject, draw a grid over it and work out the pattern block by block. I'd stitch my favourite book covers, TV characters, our house, pets and everything in between.

Then came the explosion of the Internet and social media and I was encouraged and inspired by how popular cross stitch was. I started to make patterns (now with the help of software) within the community and began to believe in my self-taught knowledge. I took odd-jobs and designed custom patterns and kits for private customers. In 2012 I took the leap and started selling my own cross stitch kits and patterns online. Now I am a designer for cross stitch companies, have a published cross stitch book and with happy customers all around the world I can proudly say that I do what I love for a living.

Hopefully my kits will delight others in the same way that I feel when starting a new project. Beautifully sorted colourful thread, the crisp new fabric and a great pattern which you can study and decide the really good bits to stitch.

I still have that little green wheelbarrow and from time to time I look at it and remember how happy I was working on my first ever cross stitch. The best part of what I do today is giving others the opportunity to feel the same way as they discover this wonderful hobby.

Additional policies and FAQs
Props used for listings photography may not necessarily be included in your purchase. Please read all listing details carefully to understand what you'll receive.

My preferred palette for designing my charts and kits is DMC. DMC thread numbers are universal throughout the world allowing for consistency in your projects and are available at many major retailers and online shops.

Kit Difficulty Key (Excludes 'Learn How to Cross Stitch' Kits):
Easy: A fun and easy skill level suitable for all abilities.
Intermediate: Pattern may contain higher detail and/or intricate backstitching.
Advanced: A large sized cross stitch project involving many colour changes on 18 count fabric and higher. Usually a photo-real design, suitable for accomplished stitchers.

Thread: All of my handmade kits contain genuine DMC thread. The required thread amounts, including starting, finishing and changing thread lengths is worked out for each kit via the software. I then add on to this 35%-50% extra thread depending on the complexity of the design for your peace of mind. Should you find you require more thread, I would be very happy to supply it at no extra charge.

Fabric: I only use genuine Zweigart or DMC fabric for the best results for your hours of stitching. For kits under 25cm an extra 12cm minimum is added onto the fabric cut for each kit. For kits 25cm and over an extra 14cm is added on for easy framing.

Hoops: Some of kits come with hoops, and some that don't have an option to add a hoop with your purchase. These hoops will always be the best quality Beechwood, with polished flat edges and brass fasteners.

Charts: All charts are colour printed onto 160gsm heavy paper for longevity. The thread is pre-sorted so that you can begin right away. Fabric may be folded to fit the packaging but is easily ironed out to your liking. All kits include the best quality John James cross stitch needles to minimize hand-strain for relaxing sewing. Everything you need comes neatly packed into a recyclable A5 wallet.

Privacy Policy: I'll only use your personal information as provided to me by Etsy to print an invoice and/or shipping label. I have antivirus and anti-malware software on my PC and will never save or keep your details. Should I need to contact you about your order I'll only ever do so via the Etsy messaging system and will never share your details with anyone else.
