About
I love my "job" and have dubbed myself a Junkologist!
From time to time a small friendly Carolina Wren comes through our doggy door and hangs out in our kitchen. My favorite thing is when she rests on an old watering can, or the antique mirror above the fireplace. It has been hard to capture good pictures when the wren visits inside though. Her sweet little spirit and curious nature were the inspiration for the name of my antique booth, The Wren's Nest, and my Etsy shop, The Wrens Nest Vintage.
My passion and appreciation for antiques began with my late Grandma Hannabelle. When I was growing up, she owned a little shop in Abilene Kansas and she sold antiques, gifts and Eisenhower souvenirs. I always enjoyed going down to Old Abilene Town and seeing the re-purposed western buildings. Her shop had uneven wooden floors, displays arranged artfully on antiques, and newsprint packages tied up with thick yarn bows.
I am now thrilled by weekly treasure hunts and researching found objects. I find that the added bonus is chatting with friendly people as they reminisce about a vintage item or take a short journey down memory lane. I am thankful we live in a time when we value possessions crafted long ago. People are so clever at re-purposing and recycling these days.
I hope if you have stumbled across my little vintage shop that you feel welcome like the little wren that has just landed in my kitchen for a friendly visit. Please take a look around and enjoy your stay.
(Before opening my shop, I enjoyed browsing on Etsy under the user name
" SassyShells.")
