About

the little story of theycallmepixie....

theycallmepixie was officially created around 2009, after having already spent a great deal of my life dabbling in a variety of creative projects and finally settling on a focus on art, wearable art and jewellery.

My art was initially acrylic paint on canvas, one off art pieces using thick textured amounts of paint for a visual and tactile experience. I still do on occasion create these types of pieces, but for the most part have shifted my focus to drawings in graphite, charcoal, ink and watercolour. I find I am able to better express my ideas via these materials, and they are easier to reproduce and post long distances (postage from Australia is very expensive!) – keeping the cost down for buyers. I think it is important to supply affordable art, because everyone should be able to access and enjoy art regardless of their income.

My wearable art range is still evolving – I have a lot of ideas, and just have to find the time to start producing them!

Originally my focus for jewellery was entirely based around creating my Fremantle Collection – an earthy, bare-foot, hippy-ish style that reflected what I thought was often missed in the jewellery market. However, as time has progressed so have my ideas, use of materials, personal restrictions on certain materials (animal unfriendly products) and these things have lead me to evolve my range of jewellery. It continues to be an enjoyable process of learning and adjustment!

My jewellery is always completely ‘one-off’. I create the range of designs, and then individually pick each bead and put together each piece with my own two hands so that no two pieces will ever be identical. I like the idea that each piece of jewellery is as unique as the person who will be wearing it. As with all hand made pieces there will be imperfections, and as I use a variety of different (and some second hand) metals there is the potential some pieces may tarnish a little over time – I feel these things add to the individuality and story of each piece.

**Please note while I have eliminated the use of animal unfriendly materials in all my jewellery and art now, I still have some older pieces for sale that contain coral, animal hair or shell - but all shell was hand picked by myself washed up on the beach and not bought commercially**

Welcome!

theycallmepixie is a little store that sells original art, wearable art and jewellery products hand made by myself, Kath. My art works are mixed media (or prints of these pieces) and encompass a variety of themes with a focus on the human-animal-environment interaction; my wearable art pieces are jewellery that I have created an art work on; and my jewellery pieces are a hand picked or hand made collection of beads strung into my own designs. All wearable art and jewellery pieces are completely one-off.

Also, please note that while I have eliminated the use of it, some pieces currently contain coral or animal hair but as an aspiring vegan I will always indicate if this is the case.

The theycallmepixie range is eclectic and earth friendly as possible. I do attempt to use second-hand, re-cycled or up-cycled materials from production to packaging and marketing.

I am friendly, so please don't hesitate to contact me via Conversations if you have any questions. Please note I will always attempt to reply promptly but I do run theycallmepixie on my own and work full time as well.

Please enjoy having a browse and I hope you have a sunshiney day!

Accepted payment methods

Payment
All payment is to be via Paypal. It is an easy and secure way to shop online as buyer/seller private information is not disclosed.

Please organise payment as soon as possible (up to a maximum of 72 hours) after purchase. Please note delaying payment delays shipping.
Shipping
I ship via regular Australia Post, within 1 - 3 days after payment has cleared.

If you require any other forms of postage (i.e registered/tracked mail) please discuss with me via Conversations. Note this will increase shipping costs.

Shipping costs for wearable art and jewellery will be minimal and listed under each item. Shipping costs for art works will vary depending on size and packaging requirements to ensure a safe journey, but will still be listed under each item.

Please note: any unforeseen shipping costs, taxes etc are the responsibility of the buyer. If a package is taking a long time to receive please contact me, but I may not assume responsibility for lost packages.
Refunds and Exchanges
If there are any issues with the product that you receive, please contact me immediately and I will be more than happy to work with you to rectify the problem.

If a refund is required, I will happily organise one once the product is returned unused (minus shipping costs).

I will be hesitant to give a refund if a piece of jewellery does not fit as I will always give measurements in my listings. Also, I will not refund if you merely change your mind.
