Note from shop owner I'm in a coding boot camp right now, so I don't have time to fill orders. I should be back with tzitzit in August, though the yarn and roving might take a lot longer than that to come back.

Welcome to The Yellow Hobbit Handspun and Hand-dyed fibers. My goal is to provide people with quality fiber. I think of each of my creations as a work of art, and I hope you will, too.

All of the alpaca yarn in this shop comes from Adventure Farm, a small family-owned alpaca farm in Palmyra, Virginia. They're really great people, and they take very good care of their animals. Half of the proceeds of the sold yarn goes back to them, so by buying this yarn you are directly supporting them. Which is a good thing to do, since they've been hit kinda hard by the economy, and could use your help.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although my colorways are not exactly reproducible, I can definitely make colorways similar to those that I've already dyed. If you don't need something precise (like a matching dyelot) and just want something based off a previous colorway, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.
If you want a larger amount of roving dyed in one colorway, I can also do that.
Also, if you see a colorway of roving you like and would like to commission me to spin it into yarn for you, I'd be happy to do so; send me a message for details about pricing and whatnot.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please note that although I try to accurately photograph all of my merchandise, colors vary from monitor to monitor, and therefore the yarn or wool you get may look slightly different than it did on your computer screen.

If you would like your yarn wound into a center-pull ball, please let me know when you purchase it, and I will be happy to do so for no extra charge. (Winding yarn is fun when you have a swift and ball winder!)

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Check
  • Other Method
Payment
I accept payment by PayPal and personal check. When paying by check, I will ship your item once the check has cleared.

I sometimes will do trades, which can be paid with "other." If you are interested in this please convo me beforehand. Once we set up the trade I will enable "other" as a payment option for you, and you can go ahead and purchase your item.
Shipping
I ship all US shipments by First Class mail with delivery confirmation, within 1-3 business days of receipt of payment. If you would like expedited shipping and/or would like insurance let me know before ordering, and I can edit the listing for you with the revised shipping costs. International shipments are also sent first class, but due to shipping costs without delivery confirmation.
Additional policies and FAQs
I accept spinning commissions; if you are interested in buying one of my dyed rovings and having me spin it up for you, please contact me. For an idea of what yarn spun from my roving looks like, go here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/theyellowhobbit?section_id=6904995
