Meet the Owner of thiefandbanditkids

Amie Cunningham

owner, maker, designer

I'm a maker, I always have been. I've been creating things since as early as I can remember. I have memories of spending hours stringing seed bead necklaces and drawing from comic books, tie dying with my family and making clothes for my dolls. In high school I made Sonic Youth t shirts and altered thrift store clothes. I went to art school (twice!) and made paintings and then sculpture. After I graduated I learned how to chainsaw carve and then taught myself how to screen print. Screen printing became a bit of an obsession, an easy way to paint but with multiple and unexpected outcomes. Oh and the bright graphic colors! Whoa, what about those misprints? How about shredding them and turning them into jewelry? Painting and sculpture and fashion coming together. Fast forward a year...a baby on the way! He needs some cool clothes, let's make him some leggings out of the printed fabric. Woo! They are super cool and comfortable too.

Luckily all my trials as an artist have lead me to Thief&Bandit and Thief&Bandit Kid's and I'm so happy. I'm really grateful, I get to share my art with so many people and they get to dress up their beautiful babies in my designs. I live by the motto 'Thief&Bandit Forever' because it keeps my art alive and allows my business to thrive.
