I bought this scarf for my youngest daughter who is 19, and she loves it... She is hard to please, but this was a hit :)
I love to sew and create beautiful things that make people feel good!! You can tell the difference!
I love to sew for people! To create new and pretty things that make people feel good about themselves. A new accessory, like an easy-to-wear infinity scarf, is a great and economical way to update your whole wardrobe. It's a fun way to try out colors you wouldn't normally wear. And, it's fun!
Everything in my Thimbledoodle shop is lovingly handmade by me myself and me alone.
I love to shop for and carefully select the perfect fabric. I only choose high quality fabrics that I just love and can't wait to sew into a beautiful accessory. I have to love the "feel" of the fabric as much as the color or print. I don't buy in volume from some overseas company, but a few yards at a time.
I only make a few of each item I sell. That way I can offer a huge selection of many different colors and styles for your choice! You are sure to find a unique scarf here. Your gift recipient will tell the difference!
After I get the fabric home, I spend time determining how best to showcase that particular fabric. Sometimes it sits on my shelf for a while until I decide. Will it be long and slinky? warm and cozy? Who would want to wear this? I get a lot of great ideas from friends and customers, too. I love feedback from you!
I had to learn how to take quality pictures and I learn more every day. I am the only one who displays and photos everything in my shop. I do some editing, but only to make sure the colors come out as true as can be.
I package all your orders myself, too. Throughout the year, I wrap orders in plain tissue with twine. And I will add a special note or gift card anytime you want me to! But all through the Christmas season, every order is mailed out in a beautiful, dark red and gold print tissue gift paper and tied with a gold organza bow. Ready for gifting as it is, or as a special treat for yourself.
I do all my packaging and trips to the Post Office, too.
I am passionate about sewing. I still learn something new every day. I bring a lifetime of skill and expertise into the design and creation of each scarf, headband or bracelet. Each fabric requires unique handling that is instinctive to me after years of experience. My knit scarves will stretch with you. The stitching on the sheer scarves will be as sheer as possible, too. My hemmed headbands are carefully micro-hemmed. Stripes and plaids are matched where possible. Again, you can tell the difference!
The other fun accessories were born in my shop as I found ways to use the fabric leftover from making the scarves. Every piece of material gets used somehow. My grand daughter's American Girl doll is the recipient of many gorgeous outfits from leftover scarf fabric. Some are starting to appear in my shop, too!
Curious about the shop name?
The "Thimbledoodle" name came about, not from a sewing thimble or from artsy doodles, but as a nod to the little woodland bird on our farm. Timberdoodle is another name for the American Woodcock. Looking like a sand piper, it’s a shorebird that lives in the forests. It is so superbly camouflaged that you are very lucky to see one! They are often on our lane, probably looking for earthworms for which they probe deep into the soil with their long beaks. Sensing danger the little things will point their beak straight up – an excellent technique to hide in the brushy grasses, but very comical in the headlights of our truck! I feel very lucky, indeed to live out in the country and be acquainted with this fascinating little bird!

There ARE unexpected delays that are out of my control! Like snow storms! or the flu! I am a one person business. I spend several days a week helping my mother care for my father with Alzheimer's, too.
I ship USPS First Class Mail with delivery confirmation and tracking - unless you tell me you want it shipped another way. Most orders usually take about three days in the United States. Occasionally there have been delays in the mail for unknown reasons. If you don't receive your package when you expect, notify me!
All international orders are shipped via United States Postal Service, First Class Mail International Parcel. Delivery time varies depending on your location.
Any other issues will be dealt with individually and to your preferences.
INTERNATIONAL buyers note: Due to etsy's recent changes in VAT and other international taxes, I have temporarily removed shipping options internationally until they have a more accurate system. I would hate to charge you where it is not necessary or to have you or I surprised by fees. Also, I have no way of knowing if you will have to pay any customs fees or how much it could be. You are responsible to pay these fees. But for now, contact me if there is something you really want to buy and know for certain the VAT and other taxes or fees.
The Post Office believes I cans safely mail your packages as late as Dec. 20th (Domestic) to arrive for Christmas. However, though they don't expect any delays, I cannot be responsible for the packages arriving on time. So order early!
Refunds and Exchanges
If for any reason you just don't like the product, it's not as you thought it would be, or for any other reason, I will fully refund your money (the cost of the item and the shipping you already paid) or replace the item with another of your choosing. I expect you to return the item in original, unused condition and to pay return shipping.
However, if you have received a faulty product, I will not only give you a full refund, but I will cover the cost of the return shipping too.
I know you will be satisfied with my product! However, I am not perfect! I hand make all these items by hand myself. Sometimes something might get past me! Please know, I am NOT trying to sneak out a faulty product! Kindly let me know and I will make it right!
Additional policies and FAQs
Please READ the description!
I provide the length measurements for everything. Put a measuring tape or string around your own neck, or head or wrist to see how it fit you. My scarves are all different lengths, too, to accommodate many different tastes.
I put the measurements of the scarf in each listing. This is so you will know exactly how the scarf will drape on you. If the listing is for a single scarf, I also include how far down the bottom of the scarf will lay from the base of your neck. My mannequin is a size extra small. And she has only half a neck! The scarf will sit higher on a robust woman, say with double DD's than an extra small petite person with double AA's.
I sell double loop and single loop scarves. It is a matter of preference! I like them both! All easy and fun to wear!
The single loop is worn like you would a necklace, and only one way.
A 35" loop scarf will lay a little higher than a 40" scarf.
The double loop scarf may be worn several different ways. Doubled
up, of course, high and close to your neck, one loop longer,
knotted, looped on itself, over your head like a wrap, or as one long,
Also, most of my scarves are very full. But some customers have requested thinner, less full scarves that aren't so close to the neck.
So, I now have thin and full width scarves.
Please feel free to contact me about anything! I would love to hear from you!
All scarves are stored until sale in their own dedicated, sealed closet in my smoke free home.
A good way to store these scarves if you collect a lot of them, is a swing arm pants hanger.
