A third sister with a penchant for adorable things and old treasures

As the youngest of three sisters (and the end of the road for hand-me-downs) I developed a fondness for thrifting and vintage which has me spending too much time, and money, in thrift stores around my city. I love finding new homes for all the cute/weird/beautiful things that other people tossed into the donation bin.

So, Third Sister started as a twinkle in my eye as I began obsessively hoarding interesting vintage pieces and all the raw fibre and yarn I could get my hands on. It matured after an admittedly ambitious (read: ludicrous) attempt to needle felt all the boutonnieres for the groomsmen in my wedding. I later found out that needle felting is far more enjoyable when you're making sloths with silly expressions or mice with adorable rotund bellies.

It's sometimes difficult to make it all work. I have a small studio space in the house that I share with my artist/cartoonist/graphic designer husband and our cat, and my day job at a local library can be exhausting. But there's something really special about holding a new creation, or great vintage score, in my hands and shipping it off to find a new happy home elsewhere in the world.

And, just so you know, the boutonnieres turned out beautifully.

Third Sister is a proud member of the Winnipeg Etsy Street Team (WEST).
