Welcome to my Etsy location:
For the past 14 years, my Arts and Crafts Style hand embroidered textiles have featured naturally dyed silk floss with linen and hemp fabrics.

My work is influenced by early 20th century designers, primarily the Glasgow Girls, a group of wildly creative and far thinking women of Scotland. For more information about my textiles, and the Glasgow artists, see my website www.thistlehandwerks.com and

Thanks for your interest in Thistle Handwerks textiles. The fabrics I use are primarily woven in Europe. Some of the hemp fabrics are from sources that identify them as either organic or pesticide-free. I continue to look for well made responsibly produced fabric. The plant dyed silk floss is dyed in the US, by hand, but not by me.

I am constantly working to minimize my impact on the earth. All my fabrics are prewashed with environmentally safe products, then air dried in the Montana sun, year round. I save my scraps of fabric and silk for papermakers. All my paper is recycled, and I reuse packing products for shipping as much as possible. I recently remodeled my studio, and installed recycled blue jean insulation, bamboo flooring, clay plaster walls, and replaced patios doors with insulated glass windows. I also salvaged doors from the neighborhood to use for a new storage area!

Accepted payment methods

Payment
I do accept personal checks/money orders in the mail from a U.S. bank. For non-U.S. residents, please use Paypal.
Shipping
In most cases, I ship via USPS, either first class or Priority. My shipping options DO NOT include insurance. If you want it, please let me know so I can recalculate your shipping cost. I do include a cost for a certificate of mailing/deliv. confirmation. For larger items, I might ship FEDEX. If you have a preferred method, I am happy to work with you.

Unless something beyond my control occurs, I will ship your purchase no later than 2 business days after I receive confirmation of your payment.
Refunds and Exchanges
In ten years, I have never had anyone ask for a refund. I realize there might be a first. If you feel I have misrepresented the item you purchase, or are displeased with the quality, and you return it in the same condition you received it in, within 20 days of receipt, I will refund the purchase price but not the shipping costs. Custom work is not refundable.
Additional policies and FAQs
Much of what I do is custom work, which includes curtain panels, table coverings, bed coverings, placemats, etc. If it can be embroidered on, I can usually do it. There is a photo gallery on my website thistlehandwerks.com that shows some examples of previous work.
