My name is Michael Greenstein, and I create beautiful things for you to use, share and enjoy every day. I am self-taught, and I personally make everything I sell using self-developed methods and inks of my own recipe. The Thorned Rose Gifts story begins with the pandemic. Like much of America, I had a conventional job. Also like much of America, I was laid off shortly after the lockdown began. There, in my own space and with all the time in the world, I thought about my long fascination with lasers; to me, the idea of cutting with light is just about the most amazing thing there is. I reached my moment of "I'm gonna *go* for it!" and bought myself a 35 watt CO2 cutting laser. The more I explored this amazing and powerful tool, the more fascinated I became with the endless possibilities it offered. Each idea seemed to lead to twenty more, and I discovered design talent I never even realized I had. Of course, this "rose" had its thorns just like any other; and just like any other, I accepted the challenge for the sake of learning to craft quality items that I can be proud to offer. I learned to work with my materials, invented efficient production techniques, found the right adhesives, and learned to channel my creativity from new idea to finished product that is beautiful, useful and durable.

My design philosophy is simple: I believe that even the ordinary can be extraordinary, and that life can be filled with lovely things that are made to use, not to gather dust. They help you reach your keys. They hold your drink. You wear them to accent your personal style.
