About ThreadedbyPooja

Sales 727
On Etsy since 2015

Threaded was born.

Threaded was first born after going through a really tough phase, maybe I wouldn't call it tough, maybe it was just one of those bad times in life where you needed to find a way out from the rotten core. I was actually working on my handmade products before I started a part time job in the busy Oxford Street of London at a big high street flagship store.

Back then everything seemed to settle the dust, a new part time job that supported me to help start up my business and I was married to a wonderful and amazing husband, who endlessly supported me whenever I needed the help. What more did I really need in life. Although he is a software developer, he still strived and took initiative to encourage me in starting this up. I wasn't enjoying my job entirely after one or two months of and constant telling off from the team. Whats there to like in a company when you aren't enjoying the job fully, theres a saying:

"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. Confucius"

So a few months later down the line, I also got pushed over by a commuter when I was going to work and happened to injure my knee. Everything for me then, seemed to just give in. I decided to leave my job couple weeks after my accident and I sat there at home, wondering what should I do next. If my knee is idle for now, my hands aren't. I needed to keep myself busy, and thats when I created my business "Threaded by Pooja". I started off working on Christmas products, and my husband helped me price up my products. He also helped me sell at a private Christmas Fair that took place at his workplace.

A few months after Christmas, and New year - I decided to apply for teaching jobs, since I also had a really good experience of that when I taught in Tanzania. But I can tell you this when the universe has a plan for you, the plans that you make in your life will never end up working out. Months passed, I never got any replies from the agencies. I gave myself a deadline, March end - I will stop applying to any jobs, and continue to use that energy in making product lines for my shop.

I love what I do, and with my husband by my side, nothing is impossible for me. My dream is to just keep pursuing what I am really good at, and enjoy life, travel with the ones I love and keep getting inspired by different cultures.

[ Behind the Scenes ]

I usually start off inspiring myself, thinking and pondering upon designs.

When Im good enough to go and make it, I don’t usually end up sketching out the design, I just go and make it. Eventually I may make a mistake, but it never usually happens, because on the first go I make sure I take it step by step. When I have to create the second one, the process is already implemented in my mind, so I just flourish and go with it.

I then use a makeshift studio, usually a blank white paper and my Nikon D5100 camera to take the pictures. I then edit them, usually quicker sometimes if the weather is good enough. But we’re not always so lucky with the sun shining in London. :)

I love to package my items with the utmost care, because i want my products to reach you intactly. Yes Im a big hoarder of tissue paper, washi tape, glitter, and anything sparkly!

I hope you like my little shop, with your support - I am always aiming to create beautiful products!

Love,

Pooja x
