Note from shop owner I will be away from my shop for a couple of weeks. I will add some new items in the supply category when I return (I will be parting with some of my vintage supplies).

About

I like to sew mixed media art using old fabrics, photographs and ephemeral to create one of a kind art.

My love of fabric, photographs and old ephemera is why I like to sew mixed media art. Getting the photographs out of the books, boxes and frames to display them in a more meaningful and beautiful way is satisfying. Vintage fabrics, lace, buttons, photographs and old sewing notions are my favorite medium because their textural and decorative qualities are appealing to me, and they tell bygone stories.

I often will start with a photograph and then select fabrics and notions that compliment the it. Computer technology has made it possible to print photographs directly onto fabric that I can then incorporate into each collage if I don't want to use the original photograph. When the subject is a known person, I like to add personal items that provide sentimental meaning to the viewer. When the subject is unknown, I like to imagine who they were and come up with stories about them by the fabric and notions choices that I make. I like to use both machine and hand stitching, and add embellishments to suit each collage.

I chose to name my creations Threads In Time by Pallas, not only to reflect the physical threads of the old textiles, but also to reflect the threads in time each piece travels in an imaginary journey. I added my name, Pallas, to personalize each piece that I create.

I live in Kentucky during the Summer and Fall and the rest of the year in California.

All of my artwork is original and one of a kind. I use antique and vintage textiles, ephemera and notions. Many of the antique elements will have stains, tatters or tears, but all textiles have been laundered before I use them to ensure freshness for you.

In case you are allergic to cats - I have two cats who aren't allowed in my fabric, but they are often in the room with me while I am working.
