About

Beautiful Beaded Art

I grew up surrounded by artists.

My siblings and I were all encouraged to express ourselves in art and music. I learned how to play the flute at age 7. I took ballet and craft classes as a child. I spent a lot of time in my mom's studio watching her work and sometimes getting into her supplies. I tried many different medias before I found beadwork. But once I found it, there was no stopping me. I've been beading for over 16 years now and have loved every second.

I love working with beads. I like taking tiny, beautiful objects and making large, intricate pieces with them. I love when people get in close and really see all the different parts that make up one of my pieces.

Beads are very relaxing and soothing to me. They make me happy. They allow my crazy, unique, and colorful style to shine.

I started my beadwork journey with off loom techniques; such as, peyote and herringbone stitch. This is where you weave beads together with just thread and a needle. A few years ago I started to experiment with bead embroidery and have found the freedom is wonderful. It feels like painting; the beadwork flows and moves in a way I could never achieve with off loom weaving. I found even more freedom when I stepped away form jewelry and started creating bead embroidered art. It's so much fun and the possibilities are endless.

I also dabble in lampwork; the creating of glass beads using a flame. I've always been amazed with this technique and knew I had to try it. My husband bought me a torch for Christmas a few years ago and with that, I've found another passion. I love melting glass as much as I love working with tiny beads. I am currently moving into a new studio space, so I am unable to work with glass right now. But I counting down the days when I am finished and can create colorful glass beads again.
