About

"What isn't brand new can always be transformed into something fresh and awe-inspiring."

Excerpts taken from Armanda's interview with Charge Magazine on thrifting and Thriftionary. You can read the full interview here: http://www.chargemagazine.org/fashion/thrifty-chick/

C.M: What inspired your blog, Thriftionary?

Armanda: Being young, unemployed, and sort of creative can inspire. I was in that “after graduation panic mode” and I needed something to exercise my writing/creative muscles.
I started thinking about the things I’m passionate about and how to make a “tangible representation” of those things, if that makes sense.

C.M:When did you spark an interest for thrift shopping?

Armanda: I’ve always loved finding things. When I was a little kid I used to walk around looking at the floor searching for things.(I found an engagement ring once!) I think that the thrill of finding things sparked a natural interest in thrifting for me back then. My mom started taking me to Goodwill when I got a little older and I was just drawn to all of the antiques.

C.M: Which thrifting adventure(s) would you say was your best or most fun?

Armanda: I can’t pick which of my thrifting adventures was most fun; it’s always a natural high. I can say that some of the most memorable have been with [my friend] Malika... While we were in college at Oglethorpe we used to hop a bus to Buford Highway’s Goodwill every other week ….even when we could only window shop. We would “treat” each other if one of us didn’t have money for thrifting. That’s that fabulous broke college student lifestyle! I can never talk about this without literally laughing out loud!
