I work in small batches and periodically release collections of limited edition styles and one-off designs. If something is not shown in my shop, it is currently sold out, and is not guaranteed to be restocked. Only a few listings are made to order and permanently available, which can be found in the “signature collection” section of the shop. Our current processing time is about 5-7 business days on all items (unless marked as “ready to ship,”) since each item is handmade to order, from start to finish. PLEASE let me know before purchasing if you need an item by a specific date or for an event- if you do not let me know, I can't guarantee that it will arrive by that date. I try my absolute hardest to get items out as quickly as possible, and am SO appreciative of your patience with this one woman operation! Tidy Clutterings is a collection of small-batch statement jewelry and custom clay decor, designed and handcrafted by Elyse Tolles since 2015. Each of our pieces are individually designed, sculpted, stamped, baked, sanded, painted, and packaged by hand, in Northern California.

We believe in providing high quality and affordable personalized gifts. We are inspired by the contemporary feminine, the beauty that lies in the juxtaposition of ethereal and modern, the art of gift-giving, and the feeling you get from wearing a kick-ass pair of statement earrings.

The antithesis to mass produced, fast fashion items, Tidy Clutterings pieces embody attention to detail and serve as functional art- they are delicate handmade items, and no two pieces are exactly alike.

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Items on sale
Returns and exchange details
- I will honor requests to cancel orders within 24 hours of their purchase.

- I will not cancel orders past 24 hours of placement for any reason. This is my standard policy, and I cannot make exceptions for cases of:
1. Failing to tell me that you needed an item by a specific date BEFORE purchasing it
2. Not reading my information on processing times, which can be found in each item description, the shop front page announcement, the confirmation of purchase email, AND the shop policies section.

- If you're unhappy with your item once it is received, please let me know immediately so I can try to resolve any issue that was a mistake on my part. Due to the nature of these specially handmade items, I do not accept returns or offer refunds on customized items except in the extremely rare case of damage during shipping.

- All items are handmade, and therefore some small imperfections/inconsistencies (that fall within a normal range for a handmade item) may occur. Examples of these may include very small bubbles, slight variances of color from what appears on screen, or other marks that in no way affect the functionality or overall aesthetic appeal of an item. Returns will not be accepted on the basis of small imperfections such as these.

- Much unhappiness can be avoided by reading the description of each item VERY CAREFULLY before purchasing, so that you aren't expecting something different than the product that is offered! Polymer clay is a unique material that can easily be visually confused for ceramic, but feels absolutely nothing like it in person.

- If you do not contact me within three days of delivery, I will not issue refunds, grant returns, or mail replacements.

- I cannot replace items if they break while in your possession or with regular use. I am not liable or responsible for replacing lost earrings that fall off and get lost during use. If an earring gets lost, please contact me for the option to purchase one single earring to match the lost one.

- Many styles of earrings may be fragile and delicate, and must be handled with care- which means that if you intentionally bend the parts or pull roughly on the components attached with jump rings, they will likely break. I will not replace items that have been damaged due to rough handling after they’re safely delivered to you.

- I am not liable for the amount of time the post office takes to scan in an item once I drop it off, or if a package is lost by USPS, and I will not give refunds on this basis. Once an item leaves my hands, I am not responsible for issues that may be caused by USPS, including delayed delivery, lost items, stolen items, etc. Please see the "shipping policies" section for further information.

Shipping
- My default shipping method is USPS first class mail, and shipping upgrades can be added on during checkout. Current processing time for MADE TO ORDER items is approximately 5-7 business days, and for already made (ready to ship) items, it’s 2-3 business days. Shipping usually takes anywhere from 2-5 business days.

- You MUST let me know an exact date when you expect to receive an item by if you are planning on giving it as a gift. I try my hardest to ship every item in a timely manner, but if I don't hear from you regarding a need-by date, items may take longer to process than the standard processing times listed.

- Tidy Clutterings is a one-woman operation, and since all of my items are 100% made by hand in small batches, I prefer not to rush the process. Things occasionally get backed up, especially around holidays. When I ship an item, you will always receive an email you to let you know, which includes the tracking number so that the package can be tracked on its way to you.

- I am not liable for the amount of time the post office takes to scan in an item once I drop it off, or if a package is lost by USPS, and I will not give refunds on this basis. Once an item leaves my hands, I am not responsible for issues that may be caused by USPS, including delayed delivery, lost items, stolen items, etc. I will not refund or replace these items.

Frequently asked questions
Can I request a customized item? What if it's something you don't have displayed in your store?

Personalization can be selected as an option in some of the ring dish listings by using the drop-down menu to choose "customized," along with the size of dish you want (2.75” or 3.75"). If you want your order customized, please write the exact customization you want in the "note to seller" portion of your order.

I generally do not take custom orders for earrings (including changing the colors of existing designs shown in my shop), but if you are a bride looking for custom bridal party earrings or a retailer interested in custom designs for wholesale, please send me a message. I reserve the right to accept customs on a case by case basis, and custom orders may incur extra charges.

Do you offer wholesale?

I take on new wholesale clients on a case by case basis, depending on my current work load. Please send me an email at tidyclutterings@gmail.com to request my wholesale catalog.

What's the deal with polymer/air dry clay? Can I eat out of the dishes or use them for something other than holding jewelry?

The clay I use is NOT ceramic- polymer clay is a very lightweight form of plastic that is hardened in an oven, and it can remain slightly flexible and bendy after curing. Air dry clay is another alternative to ceramic that is hardened by air-drying (I know, duh). My items can be dropped without worrying that they will shatter, unlike ceramic! They are not food safe, and should not be submerged in water (although a splash of water won't hurt). Please see each listing for individual care instructions.

Is this item gift wrapped?

Each item comes gift wrapped, and I can include personalized gift tags upon request. Please let me know if an item is a gift, so I can leave out the invoice.

My ears aren’t pierced. Do you offer clip-on earrings?

Right now I do not currently offer any clip-on earring styles, although I am working on some that may be released in the future!

How do I care for my earrings?

All earrings are made of polymer clay, which is a water-resistant, super light, slightly flexible material. Pieces are delicate and should not be intentionally bent, pulled, or dropped. Polymer clay is a soft material that can be easily scratched by other metal jewelry- please store in a safe place away from scratchy things.

Raw brass components will tarnish and develop a natural patina over time- moisture increases the tarnish, so keep pieces dry! Tarnish can be polished with a jewelry polishing cloth and/or tarnish remover.

A q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol will remove makeup or other dirt from clay components.
