About

The Tiki Room Vintage Story

I've been selling part-time here on Etsy since 2008 from my shop, Tiki Room Vintage.

I primarily sell vintage accessories, fabrics and supplies, clothing, and home decor from the 1950s to the 1980s. I also sell new fabrics and supplies, from time to time.

My particular favorite decades for design are the 1950s to the early 1970s, and I think that is reflected in a lot of the items I sell.

Why did I name the shop "Tiki Room Vintage?"

The Enchanted Tiki Room was my favorite attraction at Disneyland when I was a child.

That may sound strange to someone unfamiliar with Disney, but I am one among legions of Disney art fans. I am especially fond of anything and everything the artist Mary Blair created, and 1960s-era Disney concept design and art. It has affected my personal style as an adult through and through, as well as the pieces that inevitably end up for sale in this shop.

The whole concept of a tiki room opened up an incredible new world to me, not only in style of clothing and decor, but in exotica music -- which you can usually find me listening to while I work on this shop -- travel to far off places, and a passion for exploration into the unknown. There was a very fun, free-spiritedness to it all, and that's what I'm always looking for in an item to put in this shop.

My promises to you:

I will find unique, occasionally designer, vintage items, and sell them to you at excellent prices.

I will ship carefully packaged items to you extremely quickly.

Why should you buy from Tiki Room Treasures?

Because it’s vintage, everything in my shop is one of a kind.

You won’t see a mirror image of yourself or your belongings every time you go outside when you purchase something from Tiki Room Treasures.

You can be assured that whether you bought a little Italian-made purse from the 1960s from my shop, or a set of acrylic salt and pepper shakers from the 1970s, you’re probably the only one for miles around who has such unique pieces.

You’re buying something that was not made en masse in a sweatshop; it was often made by hand.

A good deal of the articles of clothing I sell were made with loving care by hand, or altered by hand to fit one special person.

Why not make that person you?

You’re part of the solution when you buy vintage.

Many of the items that end up for sale at Tiki Room Treasures were purchased from organizations that work to end child and spousal abuse, or to make sure pets find a safe and loving home.

Plus, you’re giving new life to every vintage piece you buy.

It’s like karmic recycling!

International shipments may be subject to VAT, duties, and customs fees upon arrival in your country. Refunds will be made within seven days of your receipt of the item (based on USPS tracking delivery date). You will be responsible for the cost of return shipping. Items must be returned in the condition in which they were sent to you.

Exact exchanges are not possible, since these are mostly one of a kind vintage items, but if something goes amiss and you want an exchange, we can definitely discuss!

If an item arrives damaged, please save it and all of the packaging and contact me. I will ask you to send photos of everything so that I can file an insurance claim and get your money back to you for the damage.

I have had very, very few issues with packages going missing or getting lost in the mail. But if that does happen, please let me know before leaving a review. I would like to do everything I can try to make you a satisfied customer even if your purchase doesn't arrive!

Thank you!
Additional policies and FAQs
Please contact me with any questions you have and I'll see what I can do to accommodate your needs. Need more photos of anything or additional info? Just ask. Thanks!

Please ask if you want me to cut a piece of fabric in the length that you need. I will usually be more than happy to oblige, unless it is a really small piece, typically under one yard!

Most of the clothing featured in my shop uses these dress form measurements:
Just the white part of the torso: 26" long (66.04 cm)
Neck circumference: 13" (33.02 cm)
Shoulder to shoulder: 16" across (40.64 cm)
Bust circumference: 34" around (86.36 cm)
Waist circumference: 26.5" around (67.31 cm)
Hip circumference: 36" around (91.44 cm)

Measurements for each piece of clothing are taken with it laid out flat. You would double these measurements to get a general idea of circumference.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
