Announcement I make colorful, contemporary art quilts to decorate the walls of homes & offices. Each piece has a sleeve sewn on the back so it's ready to hang. I use a combination of machine- and hand-sewing in my work, spending 30 - 50 hours on the smaller pieces and 100 - 300 hours on the larger pieces. Many of my works are my original designs while others feature traditional patterns updated with contemporary fabrics. Commissioned work is welcome.

This looks so fun. Thank you.
I Express Myself Through Art Quilts
My interest in making art quilts was jump-started by seeing my dear friend Sara take a variety of patterned fabrics, cut them into pieces and combine them in such an artistic way. As a life-long sewer (having experienced my first sewing triumph with a skating skirt I made in Girl Scouts), I took to quilting quickly. One of the great thrills with this art form is that my options are as infinite as those of a painter working on canvas -- landscapes, portraits, geometric patterns, abstract impressions, etc. I enjoy both the deep American roots of traditional quilting and the unlimited possibilities today's art quilts present. Combining elements of both extremes is great fun, as I often use contemporary fabrics in century-old quilt patterns.
My art quilts have been on display in multiple art shows and quilt shows as well as more than fifteen times in national quilt magazines ("Quilters Newsletter" magazine and "Quiltmaker") and in two books (Ricky Tims' "Kool Kaleidoscopes" and "200 Blocks from Quiltmaker Magazine").
While I have no formal art training, I have taken some wonderful classes over the years. However I know my greatest learning has come in the estimated 10,000+ hours I’ve spent making more than 100 art quilts to date. And it’s exciting to realize that there seems to be no end to this learning curve.

Additional policies and FAQs
Every quilt has a sleeve sewn along the top of the backside so that the quilt can be hung from decorative curtain rod. Alternatively, a quilt can be hung "invisibly" by using a dowel or wooden slat with an eye hook screwed in at both ends. If the total length of the bar including the eye hooks is slight shorter than the width of the quilt, the quilt can be hung with no visible means of support.. Quilts are not shipped with hanging rods.
I welcome commissioned work. Please send me a convo describing your idea, with a photo if possible. We'll discuss the desired size, color palette and other details. Based on that discussion, I will send a drawing of the proposed piece with specifics including the cost. Once we've agreed on all the details, I will create a listing for a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the price.
Once the deposit is received, I'll start on the project and will send photos during the creation of the piece. When the quilt is completed and ready to ship, I'll create a listing for the remaining 50% of the price, plus shipping.
Feel free to contact me with any other questions.
